@newplantgirlies so yes, the Freddie is a bit more fussy. He wants a bit more humidity so if you can cluster him with other humidity loving plants together they can make their own little microclimate.

I am no expert, so look into this for yourself too, but I have found that uneven brown tips or brown tips on some leaves but not others could be a fungal infection whereas if the prayer plant has even brown tips or brown tips on most all the leaves, that is a humidity issue.

I always give my prayer plants (and all new plants) an initial spray down with a neem and Castile mixture to unalive any fungal spores that might be still on the leaves from the nursery. Don’t use this mixture regularly because even though it’s a gentle soap, Castile will still dry out the leaves. So this is my initial spray down recipe, and the same recipe I use for active pest infestations.

-1 Tablespoon pure neem oil mixed with
-1/2 teaspoon Castile (I use dr bronners peppermint), mixed with
-4 cups (32oz) tepid to mildly warm water in a spray bottle
Oooh you got one of my all time favorites; the ctenanthe lubbersiana. I love him, he’s one of my fastest growers. Very easy going and laid back if you give him dappled light and are consistent with the water. What kind of climate do you live in? If it’s cool or humid you can let him dry out almost all the way before watering again. Rainwater or distilled only, or at least filtered tap. You will soon know if your water quality isn’t good enough for them. All prayer plants are sensitive to the salts and chemicals found in typical city tap or well water.

Is the second one a Freddie? If so I’ve found my Freddie is a little more sensitive regarding water, and humidity. But I’ll wait to confirm if that is a Freddie before I go on πŸ˜„
Here’s my ctenanthe from a couple months ago. He’s bigger now, but I have a cat on my lap and daren’t get up at the mo 🀭
