Is my Rubber Plant not getting enough sun?
#Ficus
My rubber plant was THRIVING over the summer! New leaves like crazy, happy, green, just seemed like it was loving life. Now he looks super sad; see below.
Is it because heβs not getting enough sun through the winter?? I live in Boise ID so itβs been wintery. What can I do to help him be happy again? π

Yes, it could be the amount of light the plant is receiving. A rubber plant needs at least 6 to 8 hours of light daily. This can be lower light at times, but itβs best to give this species medium to bright light, preferably bright indirect. If your windows receive harsh direct sun, placing a sheer curtain over it can help diffuse the light. Most plants go dormant during the winter, which maybe why your plant looks sad. In their dormant season, you want to keep the soil dry but not too dry. Let the top few inches of the soil dry in between waterings to make sure you donβt overwater. If the leaves start to droop, then your rubber plant s telling you it needs more water. I wouldnβt worry too much about it. Your plant looks really healthy. It should perk back up in the spring/summer during the growing season. My coleus plant looks sad as well and not as colorful too. I brought it indoors. It still receives good sunlight. I hope this helps! Good Luck!!

@FoxySkypilot mine is doing the same thing. I put mine outside during the spring and summer months but now that itβs inside it is sad. And it takes forever for the new growth to come out. That leaf has been like that for about a month now. I think Iβm going to move it to my grow lights.
@FoxySkypilot she is under a full spectrum grow light now. Now letβs hope the new growth will sprout faster.
@KikiGoldblatt I bought a light for mine as well!! Heβs looking a little happier now.
