I’m likely killing it 🀣

I just got this a couple of weeks ago and I’m not sure what light needs it has. The app is saying that it needs direct sunlight, google says otherwise and the care instructions were ambiguous. I moved her to a coffee cup until I make it to Lowe’s tomorrow. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The stem is firm with no rot. Large bulb at the end with light colored roots.
1ft to light, indirect
3” pot without drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
I had it looking a bit better a few days ago but I think I’ve definitely traumatized it by checking the roots ☠️
@FastBenjaminfig OMG, I was JUST reading about these guys, like two nights ago; if it’s the same as a bat plant…? Freaking GORGEOUS black flowers, sort of orchid-like in nature? If so, they prefer shade. 😘
Do you have any photos for folks to see? They always help. Also, hashtags help, the more people able to to see it might help.

Off the bat (pun intended), yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering and under watering. A pic helps with the visuals. Tags to add to your post: #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict copy and paste these into your post.

I keep my Black Bat out of direct sunlight/grow light. Lots of humidity. I would check your roots , if any root rot cut it away with sterilized scissors, then soak in 50/50 hydrogen peroxide (use 3%) and purified water solution. Soak 10 minutes, repot into clean soil and a new or sterilized pot. Put some cinnamon in the hole and worm castings if you have any. Let it recover and water it after it’s settled in and over any initial shock. Good luck and happy growing.
One of our local hardware stores has these just under a large shade cloth getting bright filtered sunlight (when it's not cloudy and raining) and they look happy.
