Hi Lisa, these begonias have huge stems that can get a little crazy!
Personally, I have mine (it's a beefsteak but has the same growth pattern) in a long, rectangular pot. It's easier for me to chop and give away that way, and it can crawl. Some people use poles, others just let them grow out of the pot.
The stem doesn't need anything to keep growing, so it's really more what you prefer aesthetically.
