Over or under watered??? ๐Ÿ’ง

I just got this little pink ice plant, lampranthis deltoides, about a week ago. I sprayed it off with water and the soil got quite wet. I havnt watered it since. It has dried out a bit and now it is going down hill. I have heard these plants like more water than you average succulents. But Iโ€™m afraid to water now if it already is over watered. Some of the dead pieces I pulled out look like cuttings, so Iโ€™m not sure how well established this plant was. Coincidentally, it had a QR code on the label for a โ€œcare appโ€! ๐Ÿ˜† the care app is Greg! So here I am. Help me with care! ๐Ÿ˜… please and thank you. #IcePlant #PinkIcePlant #Lampranthus #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #SuccerForSucculents #PlantAddict #helpneeded

@nellz4estfairyz I would lean more towards overwatered, maybe give it a small amount since it is dry and give it a couple days to see how it reacts
Are the dead pieces mushy mama?
Hi there ! That looks to me like itโ€™s on the verge of overwatering.. they will show you when they are thirsty by wrinkling the bottom leaves like here(sorry I just watered it a couple days ago) itโ€™ll look like a raisin! If the ice plant is in its original soil then that maybe where your moisture problem is coming from.. Iโ€™d repot it in a terracotta pot only slightly bigger than what it is in along with well draining soil & it needs a drainage hole. A lot of the times the soil succulents come in isnโ€™t the best because it retains too much water for them. Hope this helps, sending green love ๐Ÿ’š
Sorry hereโ€™s my bad wrinkle reference lol
@Artistic_Stoner thank you. I am so bad with succulents. I just want to water them!!!! lol. But this one has got me confused. I watered it before I saw this and the whole plant except one piece seemed to perk upโ€ฆ.. so Iโ€™m stumped. I will definitely work towards repotting into terra cotta. Do these plants like to get totally dry between watering?
@nellz4estfairyz trust me, when I first got into succulents I wanted to water and treat them like regular plants lol! Well hey if it perked up thatโ€™s great, sometimes hard to give advice not seeing the plant in person ๐Ÿ˜ yes the soil should be totally dry & again wait for it to start wrinkling the bottom leaves, then give it a a deep drink ! I keep a thorough watering journal & donโ€™t have a schedule for any of my succulents, but my journal says I water average every 11 days for my ice plant(mines a bit smaller then yours).. but that is for me personally! Itโ€™s going to be different for everyone depending on if the plants live outside/inside, zone, humidity etc so you might see that you need to water more or less than I do, just keep an eye on it & itโ€™ll tell you โ˜บ๏ธ
@nellz4estfairyz I also always recommend terra-cotta because of how porous it is. It allows the water to evaporate out so the plant doesnโ€™t sit in wet soil so long. To prevent stem or root rot I make sure that the topsoil does not stay wet for longer than three days, if it does, Iโ€™ll throw it in front of a fan all day to try and dry it out! Really hope this helps and if you have any other questions, please donโ€™t hesitate to ask ๐Ÿ˜Š
Thank you so much! Terra cotta pot is my goal for today. ๐Ÿ˜€ sometimes I just need a little push in the right direction. lol
It should be fine. The plant is somewhat resistant to over/under watering. If you feel like the soil is drenched, drips when leaned from side to side, you could re-pot (light form), pull out the plant typically about 2/3 pot will be the root mass and the remaining 1/3 loose soil. Remove the loose part, discard and replace with dry soil. It will help to dry faster. Any splitted of dropped pieces, you can stick into a dry soil for it to sprout. In moist or wet the broken pieces can start to rot as there are no roots yet. Alternatively you can also let it air till the roots form. Since it's winter and somewhat low on humidity I put in the soil to prevent shrinking which happens from dehydration.
Great strong plant otherwise!
@nellz4estfairyz Happy to help โ˜บ๏ธ same lol except right now I need a kick in the butt to stop procrastinating on cleaning out my greenhouse.. itโ€™s just SO many pots & plant stands to move twice ๐Ÿฅด sending green love to your little fella & keep us updated on it ๐Ÿ’š
