Is this scale or edema?

#succulentlove #pestcontrol This is the second one of the same species that my mom bought has the same condition/pest from a another company that's known to not have any type of pests which i guess plant company's are always having a issue with specific plants becoming weaker where they end up becoming susceptible to pests i scraped one off thinking it was scale and i looked into researching google more and typed:(why does portulacaria afra f variegata commonly has scales on it from unboxing) and it said (when unboxing a Portulacaria afra f. variegata (Variegated Elephant Bush), finding "scales" is very common, but it is usually caused by edema rather than an actual pest infestation) which i find it hard to believe because they are shaped like scales but much more flatter the first brown scale in the first photo looked normal but the other ones i took photos on were white and i searched it up on google again on scale species and the white ones did not look like any other scale bug species i saw on google. The way i would treat it first is remove all the soil from the pot then clean the roots with water put 50% alcohol on a toothbrush and scrub any scale that's on the stem of the plant then clean the leaves with water then soak the plants in either garden safe insecticidal soap pesticide mixed with water or in 50% alcohol mixed in with water what do you think works best in and how long do i leave them in there for? I'll probably do the same with the pot.
#succulentlove #pestcontrol Also sorry for someone posted on the last post that i deleted.
#succulentlove #pestcontrol Like i said on the post before i highly doubt it's the companies fault since i got another plant from the same species from a another trusted company.🙍😔
It really doesn’t look like scale to me from your photos- are the bumps white? Scale on indoor plants is usually brown. I don’t think it needs an aggressive treatment.
@MamaLinne Does it look better to see it now?
@UpfrontDisphyma I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think it looks like scale.
Hello Marcellus! I don’t know anything about Edema, but I have recently been struggling with Scale on one of my Money Trees. It doesn’t look like scale to me, but I guess diseases can look different depending on the plant… Hope this helps! - PlantLuvRgrl
