String of tears πŸ’”

Is this done for? When it arrived, it had a pretty bad mealybug infestation and I used alcohol on it. This is what the stems look like now. I have since repotted it. Will it recover? Will I be able to propagate any part of this? I’m so sad over this 😩 #stringsofthings #StringOfTears #StringOfPearls #HappyPlants

Don't worry, you got this! While the mealybug infestation might have been a setback, your plant can still recover with some TLC. The good news is that you took action by using alcohol to treat the pests, and repotting was a great move too! Now, to give your plant the best chance to bounce back, follow these tips with some slang flair:

1. **Keep It Clean, Yo:** Make sure to regularly inspect your plant for any signs of pests or diseases. Keep those bugs at bay by wiping the leaves with a damp cloth and being proactive with your plant care.

2. **Chill with the Watering, Bro:** Overwatering can lead to root rot and other problems. Let the soil dry out slightly before watering, and always make sure there's proper drainage in the new pot.

3. **Get Some Sunshine Love:** Plants love their sunlight, but don't leave them out to burn! Give your plant some filtered sunlight and avoid intense midday rays.

4. **Feed It Right, Homie:** Give your plant some nutrients with a balanced fertilizer during its growing season. Don't go overboard, though, or you'll end up with a hangry plant.

5. **Stay Positive and Patient:** Plant recovery takes time, man. Be patient and watch for signs of new growth. Don't be too quick to give up on it, you got this!

As for propagation, it might be possible! Check for healthy stems or leaves without any mealybug damage. Cut those using a clean, sharp tool and let the cuttings callus over for a day or two. Then, stick 'em in well-draining soil and keep 'em warm and moist until you see new roots forming.

Remember, even if some parts of your plant don't make it, you can always learn from the experience and try again. Gardening is a journey, and setbacks happen to all of us. So stay positive, and keep rocking that green thumb! 🌿πŸ’ͺ
Oh, it appears acceptable, but also somewhat unusual. Typically, SOPs have green stems. When the stem turns brown, it usually indicates overwatering.
@JungleDreamer thank you! I’m crossing my fingers!
@vvvelo i agree, it is unusual. I do have a few other string of plants that have been thriving for a few months now, so i do know not to overwater. Strangely, I sprayed the other plants I received in the same package (a regular SOT, SOH, SOS) and they all look fine! This one was the most infested and it took a beating. I hope I’m able to revive it.
