Yellowing leaves prayer plant

Mrs plant is #yellowing. She’s otherwise been doing good. I did repot her a couple of months ago. Have been trimming the dead. Not sure if over or under watering or if she needs a home. Any suggestions?
2ft to light, indirect
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 10 months ago
@DudeNamedDaniel are you letting the soil dry out before watering again. It might be too much light . They don’t like too much light. Check your soil. Same thing happened with mine. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. #PrayerPlant might be able to assist more. @princesspitstop or @MariansOasis @SuperbRaspfern . Hope that helps
That looks more like low humidity. They really need extra humidity. I have a humidifier in the corner that I keep my prayer plants. Without it they get yellow brown tips like that. It's caused by them losing moisture too fast in their leaves.

Here are my tips to keep her healthy.

Calathea Care Tips

1. Plenty of indirect light. Direct sun will burn their leaves. Grow lights are great, I keep my collection under grow lights 12 hours a day.
2. Water when the soil is at least halfway dry. But never allow the soil to go completely dry.
3. Keep temperatures stable. They hate fluctuating temps. Interior walls are best the temps there are more stable.
4. They love humidity a humidifier is great. I increase humidity with pebble trays below the plant so as the water evaporates it increases humidity. I also cluster them together so they create humidity themselves.
5. Ceramic or porcelain pots are best. Terracotta and plastic are bad. Terracotta is terrible for these because it pulls moisture away from the roots. Plastic does not give the plant aeration so the roots will lack oxygen. Without oxygen the plant loses its ability to absorb water and nutrients.
6. Only us distilled or rain water. Player plants are very sensitive to the chemicals in tap water.
@Preciousplants1 Thanks for the tip my friend! 🩷

A pebble tray u see the plant can help to add humidity. Just fill it with water but make sure the pot doesn't sit in the water. As the water evaporates it increases humidity.

Another way to increase humidity is to cluster plants together.

NEVER mist it causes fungal infections and does not raise humidity.
@SuperbRaspfern thank you what a wonderful display. You’re right of course! Green thumb πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ˜Š
@Preciousplants1 Your very welcome and thank you! I've got an affinity for prayer plants. They are some of my favorites. I just have always loved the striking patterns and their constant motion. 🩷
@SuperbRaspfern missed you! I like them too and just might try the prayer plant again lol. Learning as I go along. It’s more exciting when I have someone like you who’s so passionate about plants and people ❀️
@Preciousplants1 I missed you too!!! If you try your hand again try rattlesnake calathea to start they seem to be the most resilient. How are you feeling? I'm doing good on my end, so happy to hear from you!🩷 It's amazing how hearing from a friend can bring you joy. It's those small blessings that make life beautiful.
@SuperbRaspfern hi Shannon I’ve been going through a lot of stuff lately. Mostly emotional πŸ₯². Getting out a little more to Dr’s appts mostly.
I kinda isolated for a few days but I’m good otherwise. Life has a way of throwing twist and curves but my God will get me through 😊. I so wish there was a chat option so I could speak πŸ—£οΈ frankly. Maybe soon. So good to hear from you
I’m supposed to go to Dallas to my sisters for the 4th, maybe it’ll be good for me.
What are your plans? Love ❀️ you my friend 😊
@SuperbRaspfern on my monstera Constellation is dying and I don’t know what else to do for her. Had to send my new Hoya back. It brought fungus gnats and started turning brown.
Maybe my plants can feel my emotional turmoil and they’re not responding to that, not really sure. Sweet Shannon I can always count on you to bring me out of myself. Blessings
I don't travel much and stay close to home. We are a family of homebodies. Although my kids are both adults due to health issues they both still live with us. My son is autistic and doesn't do well with a lot of stimulation and outings. He's much more content with a quiet simple life. Which is absolutely fine by me. I have learned to keep my health under control with balancing my activities and get quite exhausted with travel. It really sets my health back.

Oh Sherri, I'll be praying for you. πŸ™Life can be so difficult, so I completely understand the emotional toll it can take. I struggle with depression at times and will withdraw and sort of disappear into my own bubble.

I gotta say this app has really helped. Because when people reach out for help and tag me. I will forget how I'm feeling because I want to help someone else. I've found it therapeutic and healing.

If you even need to chat you can message me on instagram if you are on that. I've chatted with a few people in there for more private conversations. 🩷

Please know you are not alone and are loved! Sending love and prayer your way πŸ©·πŸ™
@SuperbRaspfern I love prayer plants unfortunately mine died. 😭
@Preciousplants1 😒
@SuperbRaspfern thank you my friend. Your life sounds perfectly normal. So sorry about your son: I know you love and do what’s best for your children. God gave you a heart of love πŸ’—πŸ˜Š

You’re right communicating with with you and other people on Greg’s had really helped me.
But sometimes it’s just overwhelming.
I’m better today but have some truly had decisions to make. Here a picture of my peppermint plant that I pulled from the ground and potted in so I can make babies πŸ‘ΆπŸ˜Š. And my crΓͺpe myrtle tree 🌳 is blooming very nice. Thank you for being here for me.πŸ’•means a lot.
My life has been relatively quiet, I go take care of things and make Dr appointments, church and home. 🏠 I’m sure this will pass
