Crispy strings doesn't usually mean overwatering, but instead of going strictly by what the app tells you, always check the soil before watering to ensure it's sufficiently dried out. There are countless variables unique to your plant the app can't possibly take into account. If it's still damp when you get a reminder to water, click the "snooze" button and it will remind you again in a few days. The more you use the app, the more accurate the watering recommendations will become.

Because you have it in a plastic pot, which is non-porous, the soil will stay damp longer. This plant also prefers at least some direct sun. An east-facing window that gets only morning sun is ideal (morning sun is gentler than afternoon sun). Insufficient light will also contribute to the soil staying damp longer (more light dries out the soil faster). I keep most of my succulents in terracotta pots, which are porous and help the soil dry out faster.
When mine had root rot the strings began drying up and crisping. Check your roots. If you feel you’re overwatering, you probably are with these things. Greg tells me to water mine way sooner than I usually need to. Good luck!
