At what point do pots go from inches to quarts and gallon...

I recently purchased transparent nursery pots from Amazon. I’m always wondering about their roots, when to repot, root rot, etc. so I bought transparent ones to help answer those questions. But I bought a pack of 4/5/6 inch pots. And am coming to realize I also need 8” pots and larger. Especially as my fiddle leaf surprised me with a root popping out of the bottom. And has finally started growing and pushed out 5 or 6 leaves in the last two months.

However, I’m having the darndest time finding transparent pots 8” or larger on Amazon. (Except in packs that are 4/5/6/7/8…) Is there a different term I should be searching with? When do they switch to quarts or gallon measurements? How large is a 6 or 8” pot compared to a gallon pot?

@VerdantFlora Check out Repotme.com They have an assortment of jumbo slotted pots. Although those pots are designed for Orchids in particular you might be able to use them. I believe that a one Gallon nursery pot can measure anywhere from 8”, to 10” depending on the depth. You would also need to consider the size of the root ball, bc if the pot is too big for the plant it may not work due to too much soil and the roots won’t get enough room to breathe bc the soil gets compacted. Not sure if this helps, Good Luck & Happy Growing!
@Ms.Persnickety thanks for that site, I’ll check them out. I do know the size of the pot is very dependent on the rootball. I just want to have the pots on hand for when I need to repot plants. But right now the largest unused pots I have are 6”. It’s more of a have it on hand for when I need it type thing.
@Ms.Persnickety although Ive been a little nervous to purchase an orchid with what I’ve heard about the care they need. I’ve learned a lot the last few weeks. Those slotted pots might make it easier to get an orchid. … ☺️
@VerdantFlora Just found a great website with great info: https://www.latimes.com/lifestyle/story/2022-04-27/how-to-keep-orchids-alive-blooming#:~:text=bright%20indirect%20lighting%20(keep%20them,annual%20repotting ! I have to admit that Orchids absolutely intimidate me. Before I found Greg I killed every single one I bought! I envied my sister she had them growing outside on her deck, just hanging out. Since I have no β€œoutside β€œ space for plants I have not yet attempted to grow Orchids again. Wish you luck and keep us posted!
Thanks Sami @samily) & Monika @Ms.Persnickety)! And sorry for lurking lol..
But I was having this clear pot debate (with myself) just yesterday! πŸ€”πŸ€£πŸ€£ So it's been very informative! πŸ₯°πŸ’š Xx
@JenniB81 No worries, it’s all good, this is a bit strange but I happen to have a stack of clear pots. I guess at one point I was thinking of getting an orchid or two. Then my brain kicked in and told me to re-think things, but I still have the pots. And no plants for them yet!
