How long do Rubber plants take to grow roots during propa...
It has been almost a month since I cut this rubber plantβs top trying to propagate but there seems to be no visible growth. Thoughts? #RubberPlant #Propagation
@SirStretchberry Rooting will generally occur in 3-4 weeks but some plants will take longer. When the roots are 1-2 inches long or longer the cutting is ready to be potted up. here is a website with more info: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://plantura.garden/uk/houseplants/rubber-plant/propagating-rubber-plants%23:~:text%3DMake%2520sure%2520to%2520keep%2520the,put%2520it%2520in%2520a%2520pot.&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwi476iAvpuJAxWbRDABHYUoO1UQFnoECBAQBQ&usg=AOvVaw2vKWGIQkYo74_XXqErxgx3 Happy Growing
If you have a pothos, try adding a few cuttings of that in! Iβve seen a lot of people saying they produce excess rooting hormone so it speeds up the growth of other plant roots, and when I had some cuttings that hadnβt shown roots after a couple of weeks and added some golden pothos, they grew nice healthy roots within the week! Couldβve just been luck, but it canβt hurt to try :P
Happy propping!

@Ms.Persnickety Very interesting article thank you! Looks like none of those methods really mentioned putting the stem in water to wait out for roots before planting.
The methods they show require 25 deg weather (it is currently spring in Melbourne and weβre seeing those temperatures only barely rn). my stem is too long to put a plastic bag over as well?
Do you suggest I put them in the potting soil? I only have indoor plant soil atm and now the other seedling soil mentioned in the article tooβ¦. any tips on also cutting costs/ investing more into this plant or do you think thatβs the only best way and highly recommended?

@ForestCave Ohh ! Definitely do not own pothos but can i buy rooting hormone and chuck that in the water?
@Just1More Gives me hope hahaha thank you!
@SirStretchberry first step: buy a pothos ππ but I really donβt have a bunch of experience with rooting hormone! I just did a google search and some people say to dip it in the hormone, let it dry overnight, and stick it in the water (this is talking about a fresh cutting so not sure if that would alter anything) and some people say it doesnβt do anything. Iβve also seen some people recommend dipping in cinnamon but thatβs probably just cause people say cinnamon can do anything (and Iβm not sure theyβre wrong π)
@SirStretchberry You know, Iβve never propagated my plants. I always clip them off and stick them in the dirt and theyβve always did fine. My family tells me that I have a green thumb. So what I do might not work for the next person. I suggest you try it. π€·ββοΈ
@ForestCave buying is not a bad idea ;) hahahaha I think Iβm going to directly plant it now
@BestSulluspurge lucky that youβre a green thumb! Iβm seriously considering doing this!!
