She is dropping

Hello! I posted this question about 2 weeks ago, but I didn’t see any response.
I am new to Greg and this community, so I probably missed seeing it somehow; therefore, I’m re-posting my question because I need help with one of my oldest babies.
PLEASE READ BELOW:
Coming in needing desperate help with my beautiful big girl, Madagasgar Dragon (Kobe).
I’ve had her for about 14 years and she’s always looked healthy and lovely, but look at her now!
She’s been dropping for about 3 weeks now although she’s been receiving the same devoted care I’ve always given her (and all 25 of her siblings).
***So here’s the thing, about a year or so ago, I planted a POTHOS as a companion in her large pot which had lots of space. They have been sharing the space very happily and growing well together until about 3 weeks ago. But The pothos has really taken over her space and I’m thinking it may be depleting too much of the nutrients the dragon plant needs because she is very tall and old. I STARTED TO CUT BACK ON SOME OF THE POTHOS BRANCHES IN CASE THEY ARE THE CAUSE OF THE DROPPING.
***CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS CAN BE THE CAUSE OF MY DRAGON PLANT DROOPING, AND IF I SHOULD CONTINUE TO CUT BACK THE POTHOS BRANCHES CONSIDERABLY???
Thank You! 🙏
First off, welcome to the community. I apologize that no one saw that post or was able to help. I’ll tag a couple of groups, and maybe they can help, but I’m going to bet that your pothos is choking out the roots and, as you said, depleting the soil and the nutrients. I’d probably transplant your pothos into a separate pot. Pothos are more vigorous growers, and they will fight for the whole space. They do not believe sharing is caring. 😂 But I could be wrong. 😑 So let me tag these couple of groups, where some great people have amazing advice and insight. 😉🩵 #TheThread #TheWateringHole
@Plantlover4ever Hi Rita! Welcome to Greg! I agree with @Idplantthat - I would take out the pothos for sure! How long has it been since you repotted your dragon? My mother has one almost the same size, and from what I can see via the picture, that is what hers looks like when we both forget to water it for too long! If the soil is too compact water won’t be able to get to the roots I would take out the pothos, and repot the dragon in some fresh nutrient rich soil and give her big drink! If it was mine, that is what I would do! To me, it looks like it will make it f something is done pretty soon, I wouldn’t wait very long! Good Luck to you, ur dragon and pothos! You got this!🪴🌺🌸👍🏻
@Idplantthat Hello! And thank you for the welcoming and your response. Your thoughts do make sense. But if that is the case, I will have to completely disturb them both as I’m sure the pothos roots are very much embedded all across the mother Dragon roots! What was I thinking?! The space looked so empty, that I thought it would be ok to make good use of it and beautify it with a companion. Go figure! 🤦‍♀️ I look forward to reading other’s opinions and suggestions. Thx again! 😊
@Ponytailmom Hi! 👋 Thank you for your suggestions. Well, frankly, in the 14 years I’ve been here parent, I’ve never replanted her. There’s never been an issue. She’s been growing beautifully like nobody’s business. This is the first time I see her like that. So yes, I go with what I was initially thinking and you both are also suggesting it could be the the problem—the pothos are possibly the culprit! They look so beautiful there though. Take a look! But I will take both your advice as it was my first thought. Thank you both. 👍 Much appreciated. I will update on the process.
@Plantlover4ever don’t beat yourself up, we have all done this and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done stuff like this. 😂 I do think that unfortunately digging it up might be the only way to protect it from getting worse, but I’m far from an expert. 🩵
@Plantlover4ever I have waiting so long to repot a plant that when I finally did take it out of the pot, there was no soil in the pot! Just roots! It was the craziest thing I had ever seen! You are not alone sweetie! I think it’s going to be fine! 🪴
