@PlantGirlll I would say do a one heavy watering when it’s dry, till the water is coming out of the bottom, that ensures the soil is evenly moist. Let it drain for a bit, don’t let it sit in water. Then repeat!
First, she's a very young plant and needs a pot with drainage. No drainage means easy chance for root rot and other problems down the road. I use a chunky mix for my Ruby Ficus to let the roots breath which is essential for good consistent growth. Another thing is she doesn't like to sit in water, and Likes to dry out a bit between waterings. Seems like iam under watering but iam not.she is thriving. Underwatering is always usually easier to fix than overwatering.
Chunky mix is perlite, Orchid bark, and, and I use organic soil. With a good handful of earthworm castings. A once in a while home made fertilizer that they love , not just for her but other plants too ..I dry out coffee grounds and egg shells and grind and mix into a powder with my coffee grinder and sprinkle in pot periodically. Great Fertilizer. All natural. You will see the difference. Nitrogen, Calcium etc..all stuff they like. Cost $0 if u already drinking coffee and eating eggs πŸ₯š in the A.M. !
Thank you so much this is my first time ever having one and Im trying my best to figure this kinda stuff this is was very helpful have a blessed day
One last thing, I have been doing a little water and then doing a little water later is that alright?
What does that mean, "A little water later? One of the best things I invested in was a water meter. $15 for a 2 pak on Amazon sometimes, or if ur on a tight budget a bamboo stick or skewer works fine. When it comes out clean, after being inserted in the soil, its time to water her.
Oh alright I mean I do like a small amount of water and then like a few hours later I do a small amount of water to her later πŸ˜
