How to make plant bloom

Do some of you guys have any recommended fertilizers or special products to force bloom for a plant? #LilyOfTheValley bloomingSuccs">#bloomingSuccs #help #HappyPlants #PlantAddict floweringPlants">#floweringPlants
@Jetstream2007 πŸ‘‹πŸ½ I have the same question: so let’s ask @SuperbRaspfern: she’s very knowledgeable in plants or #TheThread . That way we’ll both get the answer. πŸ‘πŸ½ sorry I couldn’t help more
Sorry but you can't force bloom the plant. The plant only blooms at its own pace. Ferts CAN encourage better blooms, but it doesn't force it.

Based on what i got online, Lily of the Valley blooms are heavily influenced by temperature. In warmer clinates it may bloom in April, but in cooler climates it blooms in early June. Note that fluctuations in temperature may cause the plant to not bloom at all.

They like slightly acidic soil, with bright indirect light, perhaps getting a few hours of direct light. They need consistent moisture too, meaning water when top few inches are dry.

If you're in Southern Hemisphere, no direct light. Too hot.

This is all i got regarding Lily of the Valley online. They may require certain fluctuations in night length and certain conditions that i do not know of.
What you can do to aid blooming.

If you have a liquid fertilizer you can mix some with water in a spray bottle and mist the plant.

This can be beneficial in many plants such as:

Lily of the Valley
Orchids
Christmas Cactus
Etc.

Mist once weekly ❀️

Now the other thing you want to think about is what encourages blooming.

I've talked in the past often about fertilizer and the 3 very important ingredients being.

N- Nitrogen for foliage
P- Phosphorous for root growth
K- Potassium for overall health

Now for blooming you need to look at the P- Phosphorous.

NPK is listed on labels as

10-10-10
5-10-5
10-6-10

Those 3 numbers in the front are very important. You want a liquid fertilizer with the middle number phosphorous to be high. Because phosphorous is what helps plants bloom.

So one listed as 5-10-5 would be good. Then mix fertilizer with water and mist weekly. This can give you plant what it needs to speed up the blooming cycle and increase the amount of blooms they have.

This really does help encourage blooming, I have done it myself.
@Preciousplants1 Thanks for the tag Sherri ❀️
Some fertilizers for this purpose:

Miracle Grow Bloom Booster Flower Food. I only recommend this for a foliage spray because it is quite high in Phosphorous. It DOES NOT meet the needs for a normal fertilizer though as it has NO potassium. So Foilage Spray only. It's just a supplement.

Anthurium Liquid Plant Food

Farmers Secret Fruit and Bloom Booster

Here are 3 that would be good option. Again I would only use any of these as a bloom booster foliage spray. Not as a fertilizer in the soil as they would be lacking in nutrients for overall health. But as a foliage spray they can encourage blooming with the high phosphate levels.

I did screenshots for you and also added links to make things easy. @Preciousplants1
@SuperbRaspfern no problem Shannon, you’ve always given me great suggestions and I appreciate this one as well. I had the same question cause my Christmas Cactus 🌡 hasn’t bloomed sine the blooms fell and 4 months ago. I appreciate your advice πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ«ΆπŸ½
@SuperbRaspfern now I have another question. The city did something to the water and it smells like chlorine: I have a water filtration system but I’ve noticed some yellowing and brown tips. Should I just buy distilled water ?πŸ’§ I think it’s the chlorine. This is the plant food that I use.
@SuperbRaspfern it has 10-15-10? Ok to spray with?
@Preciousplants1 Yes Shultz will work fine I used to use it it has a good amount of phosphorous so that's perfect!

Absolutely buy some distilled water. Water treatment plants do a strong "shock treatment" that disinfects and treats the water tanks pipes etc. For the next couple of weeks plan on distilled or spring water. The high levels of chlorine will absolutely damage your plants otherwise. They use VERY high doses when they do this. If the smell is still there after 2 weeks do it even longer. But the main chlorine shock should start to dissipate by then. It does become inactive after some time.
@Preciousplants1 Good job catching that by the way. You've got a good sniffer. It's like when I shock my pool with chlorine, it works great. But we don't swim in it after! ❀️
@Preciousplants1 Please use caution with yourself as well. If your smelling it it is way too high to be safe for you to drink as well it can can respiratory issues, irritation of skin, throat, GI tract etc.

I don't want you being harmed by the chlorine either. So please use caution. Use bottled water for cooking, and drinking yourself. If you have issues reach out to the your city and ask. They will provide a report of the levels. That way you know it is safe.

I know our local water supply always sends out the amount of additives to our water as well as the numbers.

I live is California so they are quite strict with the environment. But if you call and ask they will inform you.

I've heard horror stories of damage done by accidental leaks and issues.
@SuperbRaspfern thank you Shannon; we don’t drink it, we drink bottled but I didn’t even thing about cooking. I did talk to my husband about being in the shower with the strong smell. I have very sensitive shin and I’ve already noticed some dryness. . I appreciate your being that to my attention. I was just so worried about my plants πŸͺ΄ lol did even occur to me about the respiratory part. πŸ‘πŸ½. I think I will call the city πŸ™οΈ. Buy the way I grew up in Rosamond Ca and spent most of my a
@SuperbRaspfern San Diego. Cool. I’m headed there in another month to see my grandson graduate πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ“ πŸ₯³

@SuperbRaspfern thanks again; I’m noticing that here on Greg’s that the community cares for each other as well. That is a good thing. ❀️❀️❀️
@Preciousplants1 San Diego's really pretty. We bought our sailboat there back many years ago. Graduating grandson, that will be exciting!

You're very welcome. I'm sorry, I can be a bit of an overprotective Mom! Funny how we think of ourselves last sometimes. πŸ˜‚
@SuperbRaspfern I forgot to tell you I had to repot 4 plants πŸͺ΄ in new soil because of sudden yellowing and brown tips. 🫩πŸ₯±πŸ₯±
@Preciousplants1 Yes, many of us do, it's like a family. Especially the people you talk to often, you being one of them. πŸ₯° It's always a pleasure to hear from you. Internet has really changed our world hasn't it. Someone can be across the world, yet connected. It still amazes me how you can form relationships through words alone and never actually meeting in person. I have found myself really truly caring for people. What a blessing! ❀️
@Preciousplants1 Oh no! 😒At least you know the signs to look out for so you could fix the problem right away. Great job! ❀️
