Philodendron yellowing
Hey everyone, I have a question.
My philodendron burle, Iโve posted her before, is starting to get these yellow leaves: sheโs getting new ones, the bigger ones are like the pic below are turnings. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Philodendron #TheThread #TheWateringHole #PhilodendronBurleMarx

Hi Sherri ๐ yellow leaves can be from too much, harsh sun, overwatering, or pests. Is it getting direct sun in that window? If so, you might want to move it to where it gets bright indirect sun, or maybe put some kind of a curtain to help keep the sun off the leaves. If they are bottom leaves, thatโs the plant growing and you can cut them off (sterile scissors!), - yellow leaves wonโt recover so cut them off so the plant can focus on new growth. Our Texas sun might be too much for it- especially after 2-3pm. If you feel the soil and itโs wet- donโt water until the top 2-3 inches of soil is dry. I donโt have a Burke but all of my Philos are in really good draining soil I mix myself and they get a little drink once a week to 10 days (all outside in the shade).
If she's putting out new healthy leaves and these are primarily the oldest leaves at the bottom, I agree with @SillyPlantGirl that they're likely dying off as part of the plant's normal growth cycle. I know you've been hyper vigilant about pests since your unfortunate episode with thrips, but this doesn't look like pest damage to me ๐ I'd just keep an eye out for any new yellowing leaves elsewhere on the plant (besides the oldest ones at the bottom). Once they're fully yellow with no remaining green, you can go ahead and cut them off since they're no longer able to photosynthesize and provide energy for the plant.
@SillyPlantGirl thank you
I have it in a quick draining soil, it sits in a northeast facing window.
I only water it when it needs water and I bottle water.
Yes @stephongreg itโs getting new leaves but itโs getting more leggy. Itโs has more than a few new leaves.
Over the weekend I moved her back a little bit but same window and
I cut off the bad ones.
So do you think itโs getting too much sun?
. Weโve been getting more rain than normal so Iโm using a grow light.
The first picture is top growth and the second is an alone stalk thatโs full of new growth.

@SillyPlantGirl @stephongreg Iโve also noticed that the aerial roots that grow into the soil from the stem are browning . Iโm kinda at a loss
