Hello! Welcome to the #GregGang. Mine does the same thing.. Unfortunately it does mean it's starting to die... But that's normal! They do not last very long... .. Once it starts to spread.. It's good to clip it off so so a new one will start... Hope this all makes since! ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿœ๐Ÿž๐ŸŒต #CarnivorousPlants
Is the whole plant dying or just the trap? And i heard that before chipping a trap i should wait since it's all dry since before that it still helos with photosyntehis? Thanks for the advice ๐Ÿ˜Š
Hi! Your little guy will be okay. Just means that its getting a good amount of sun and is completing its natural cycle! The little marks can indicate that that specific pitcher on that plant is nearing its end, but wait for it to fully brown before clipping it off. To clarify, the plant itself is good! The pitcher that the spot is on is just nearing the end of its cycle. More will grow. Its good to wait for the pitcher to fully die back before trimming it, as it may still be digesting bugs inside of it. Clipping the pitcher off before its fully brown doesnt let it use up the rest of those nutrients. :)
Pitchers can last a while, some of the ones on mine can last over a month. Different species put out pitchers at different times, so dont be worried if its not replenishing its pitchers that quickly in one part of the season. It looks like you have a hybrid though, so depending on the parentage it could put out pitchers consistently throughout the growing season. Sarracenia purpurea, which looks to be in the parentage of the hybrid you have, tends to keep its pitchers for a longer time period as well
Lovely plant, it looks great! ๐Ÿ˜
