#Monstera

One or two leaves and stems of my Monstera have these bumpy things. I think the brown lumpy bits might be scale, but I'm not 100% sure. What I'm really curious about though is what's going on with the stem in the third photo?

I doesn't look like scale to me, but I might be wrong. I have no idea, what else it could be. A good way to treat if it is scale is by either trying to peel them off(🀒 ) or by dabbing isopropyl 70% on them and see what happens
It looks like your Monstera might indeed have a scale insect infestation. These pests appear as small, brownish bumps on the stems and leaves, which matches your description and the visible symptoms in the photo. Scale insects can be quite a nuisance, but they can be managed with some care. You can treat the infestation by using insecticidal soap or neem oil. Gently wipe down the affected areas and remove any visible pests. Additionally, ensure you are not overwatering your plant, as this can lead to root and stem rot, causing the stem to become brown and mushy. Make sure your pot has good drainage to prevent water from sitting in the soil. Monstera plants also thrive in humid environments, so consider misting the plant or using a humidifier. If you can share the third photo, I can provide more specific advice. How does the rest of the plant look? Are there any other symptoms?
THIS IS NOT SCALE! I believe it’s called corking. It happens to more mature monstera plants. It’s the plant’s way of adding more structural support the petioles and stems. Mine have it. It’s totally normal.

Mine has it also. Very normal. ☺️
Oh I'm so glad it's not scale! Thank you all for your help, I've learned a thing or three and it's all good 😊
