monstera node aerial route feels flat

Does anyone know if this is normal for a node or is the aerial root rotting? #Monstera #MonsteraMob οΏΌ
@PrinceVince44 well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that looks deceased. It’s a little hard to tell from this pic but does the brown area encompass half of that wet stick? You might have to try again with a different node πŸ˜”
@DreamMachine Its just the bottom of the node, I think its done for 😞 I do have another node I think I was able to save the aerial root from rotting completely. Hoping that works out.
@PrinceVince44 what were you rooting in?
That sounds like rot to me. I would try to cut back the rotten part. Being careful not to cut through ur node
It looks hollow and papery, that root rotted out ☠️
I would try to save it. It can’t hurt. I’ll attach a an albo node that I was pretty sure was a goner and it sprung a leaf. There’s always that chance it makes it
@DreamMachine I was rooting in potting mix with more perliteοΏΌ
@TRose the area route on this node was all the way into the node itself. I did have another node, but it dried out too much for me to use.
@smushface it sure did lol
@TRose it was my first time hopefully next time I have better success.οΏΌ
@PrinceVince44 tbh as long as it has green parts and isn’t mushy, I wouldn’t give up. Do you have a tall vase or glass? Put a small layer of pebbles at the bottom, then cover it with a few inches of moss (if you have it) or monstera mix. Rest it atop a few inches of moist medium in there and see how it goes, periodically watering it to keep things moist but not wet. The tall walls of the glass will keep the humidity in, and the pebble layer will allow for drainage but also force excess drained water to evaporate up back into the moss…. So the node will be surrounded by humidity without being wet or buried and still have plenty of airflow.
