leaf curl with my Scotia tomatoes π π’ any guidance and he...
#tomato Iβm a first year veggie gardener in zone 8b and have 6 scotia tomato plants growing in a raised bed. The plants appeared happy and like they were taking off with growth, but Iβve been noticing the leaves curling inwards. I thought it could be a watering issue, but ruled that out. Yesterday, I saw that the leaf curl had REALLY rapidly progressed, and even the plantοΏΌ branches seem twisted. Iβm very worried about the health of my tomatoes, and I feel gutted because Iβve spent so much time caring for my new garden. leaf curl doesnβt seem like a good problem to haveβ¦ What can I do to save my plant babies and investment? #TomatoPlant
Do your leaves appear thicker, and is there any discoloration? From what I can tell they donβt appear so. If they are though, it might is curly top disease, caused by the dreaded leafhopper. and it is typically recommended, to get rid of the plant. I would make sure you continue to trim off the suckers to keep your plants from expending so much energy in growing foilage, (all the energy should focused on growing the fruit) and for much needed air circulation. You might want to check the PH (slightly acidic, 6.5 is good). Always base water, fertilize regularly, and add sone crushed eggshells (mixed in at the base) for an added boost of calcium. No expert, but I donβt think it is curly top disease. π. Hope this helped a little.
