Air plant watering

Question

I've been soaking my airplants every months (3 weeks) for 30 minutes and then letting them dry upside down for 30 minutes so far they're fine but I'm just wondering how I know if it's long enough or even too long

When you soak them, do you soak them all the way?

About once every two weeks, I dunk and soak my plants for about 30 minutes (or when I remember).  I keep mine in my shower so it's pretty humid every day.  Every day or so, I spray them with the shower nozzle for good measure.

I hang mine upside down so they don't get crown rot and die. (:

Recently I was at our local big box stores. Wal-mart, Home Depot, and Lowe’s all had air plants labeled as succulents and planted in soil! I don’t know if I felt worse for the tillandsia or the purchasers who have bought a doomed plant and may be put off succulents or houseplants because of it.

@DazzlingOasis I give mine a "bath" in a plastic container for about 20-25 minutes and dry then upside down on my baking rack. I usually water mine like @sarahsalith says.
