Removing pups

If I'm wanting to save at least one, there's 5 pups, can I cut them at the red lines? Or do I need to cut closer to where it connects?

I assume the pups roots would die, would that be an issue? I'd like to remove all 5, seems like potentially a lot of dead roots though.

These are its second set of pups, it likes to reproduce after a high stress event. The first time I just cut the mother plant off and repotted it. These have been in there quite a while though. #help #aloevera #succulents #propagation
Hello! Welcome to the #GregGang. I would cut at the angle of the one on the far right. Then allow them to dry out or callous for about 24 hours then plant in moist soil and watch and wait... Hope this helps!! #Propagating ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿชด๐Ÿœ๐ŸŒต๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿž
You might not even have to cut. Oftentimes I've been able to just twist them back and forth until they pop off.

I should also mention...you don't *have* to remove the pups at all. Aloe are quite happy being snug in their pots and will continue growing and producing pups until they're spilling over the sides ๐Ÿ˜› If you're planning to repot the mother plant in the near future, it's much easier to remove pups while you're repotting. That allows you to see what you're dealing with beneath the surface in terms of where they connect, root growth, etc.
I agree on letting it just do it's thing and pull apart when you repot. It's way easier at the root
