Did the runner have any roots when you removed it? A good way to ensure success with strawberry runners is to pot them up while they’re still attached to the main plant and leave them for a few weeks to establish roots.
@HorticulturePLZ @EdwardsEmporium Alright. I originally just thought you needed to cut it off, and the runner would establish their own roots, lol. Luckily, my dad's strawberry is a bit crowded, so it'll get runners often.

I'll do a retry in the morning.
