Removing pups

If I'm wanting to save at least one, there's 5 pups, can I cut them at the red lines? Or do I need to cut closer to where it connects?

I assume the pups roots would die, would that be an issue? I'd like to remove all 5, seems like potentially a lot of dead roots though.

These are its second set of pups, it likes to reproduce after a high stress event. The first time I just cut the mother plant off and repotted it. These have been in there quite a while though. #help #aloevera #succulents #propagation
