My alocasia is turning yellow/brown. Please help!

She looked perfect when I bought her, and over the last few weeks sheβs been getting more and more yellow/brown/dead spots on multiple leaves. Iβve already cut off one really bad leaf, but Iβm not sure why this is happening.
Iβve moved her so sheβs getting more light, I held off watering in case it was overwatering, but it just keeps getting worse! π
Does anyone know why this might be happening?

From what Iβve heard? Totally normal alocasia behavior. I donβt have any yet but Iβm very much planning on getting alocasias so I have done some research. First, they are incredibly dramatic. Itβs very much expected for them to lose most of their leaves while settling in if not all of them.. try not to panic! Itβs not because youβre doing something wrong. Itβs best to pick a spot and leave your alocasia there with minimal disturbance in order to avoid upsetting the diva π
Oh, I also heard that alocasias also have βdormancy periodsβ where they will essentially lose all of their leaves and go into hybernation. I have false shamrocks that do the same thing. I heard alocasias have dormancy in the hottest part of the summer, they probably do in winter as well. Also do not panic! Simply move to a darker spot and donβt water as much while your plant is asleep and then move back and resume watering when itβs time to wake up :) itβs pretty easy to see absolutely no life on the surface and assume your plant is dead, but if your plant has good roots then everything should be okay!
@newplantgirlies hi! Thanks for replying. She definitely no new leaves that I can see. π
@Uzi Itβs coming into winter here, so she might just want to take a nap! π Iβll move her to a lower light area for now and see how she goes. Thank you so much for the detailed reply!
@Seedstarter she started getting yellowing when I had her under lower light, so I recently moved her to a different spot in case it was a lighting issue. Iβll move her a bit further away from the light again. Thank you!
