Why isn't this red
I got a Ruby Teneki Ficus last year. It's been in an east facing window all year so it's getting plenty of light. Just curious if anyone knows why it's white where the red should be. It still looks cool just curious as to why it lost its red #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #ficus #ficusgang
@OutgoingBanana maybe but I don't think so. When I got it the leaves were red where the white is and the red faded as it grew.
Could be lighting and/ or lack of fertilizer. My pink variegated banana plant, her leaves turn white instead of this gorgeous fuchsia when I donβt give her the proper fertilization. I know some plants need certain nutrients in their soils to maintain their colors, as well as if lighting conditions arenβt correct, they turn whiter. π
I just wanted to mention that the new growth on tineke is also pinkish and turns white after so it might have been mislabeled because that looks exactly like mine which is not a ruby. (First one)
Because losing the red overtime is normal as you can see on the picture from internet but the hue should still be more cream than the Tineke. Last picture is from Reddit
If it was looking like the last one when purchased, then Iβd recommend looking into fertilizer and the distance with your window. π
