I recently added a voile curtain to my spare bedroom for ...

#Monstera
2ft to light, direct
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 days ago
What direction does the window face? Monsteras do fine with dappled light, but you may need a grow light, especially in winter, for it to thrive.
What direction does the window face? Does it normally receive any direct sun? If so, it should be fine. Monstera prefer dappled sunlight anyway, and a sheer curtain creates dappled light when hung on a window that normally gets direct sun ☺️
@MamaLinne lol, I think we're on the same wavelength this morning πŸ˜‚
Thank you for your replies 😊 I think it's an East facing window
What looks like a bright spot to us may not be. Get a light meter to know for sure. I got a really nice one for about $35-$40 on amazon. It’ll help determine the best spot and is the curtain just right or not enough. Helps with grow light distance too πŸ™Œ
I would invest in a grow light since you’re limited on space. Once your plant matures it will need a lot more space and you may not want a big plant on your nightstand
@plantLadyoJxx Optimal Light Conditions for your Monstera: Bright, indirect light is the gold standard. The foliage should cast a soft, fuzzy shadow rather than a sharp, crisp line.Tolerable: They can survive in medium or low-light rooms, but growth will slow down dramatically.Direct Light: They can handle a few hours of gentle morning or late-afternoon sunlight, but must be slowly acclimated to avoid sunburn. Signs Your Monstera is Getting the Wrong LightNeeds More Light: New leaves stop developing their signature splits (fenestrations), growth becomes "leggy" or stretched out, and the soil stays damp for too long.Getting Too Much Light: The leaves will develop dark brown or bleached, yellow patches from sunburn. Using Grow LightsIf your home lacks natural light, you can easily supplement with full-spectrum LEDs. Position the grow light about 12 to 18 inches above the highest leaf and run it for 10 to 12 hours a day.
@stephongreg that’s a good wavelength! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
@plantLadyoJxx it will probably do just fine in the sunnier months, but may struggle other times of the year. You might also double check that the soil is an aroid mix or very well draining, as lower light will cause a much slower uptake of water leading to root rot.
