I didn’t stay home and rest and try to recover from last night’s migraine. Instead I met DD1 and my granddaughter at PetSmart, bought #PipSqueakTheIntrepid new cat food (already switching to adult because lil miss has become rather portly since her spay surgery last month), and then we skipped on down to Home Depot.
I was hoping ours might’ve gotten some of those Thai Cons that @Kapuac lucked out on getting yesterday at hers. Instead I found literal shelves of houseplants drowning. Not even kidding. Water was pooling on top of soil because the pots were full of water. I was so disgusted.
Thus I rescued a handful and hopefully they weren’t too far gone that they succumb during their adjustment period in their new safe haven. I mean there’s one little Hoya that I was legit squeezing water out of when I got home; now it’s out of its grow pot and getting some air while resting on paper towels on my kitchen counter. And oh, the ZZ plant… I probably poured 3/4 cup of water out of its cache pot right there in the store.

I also grabbed a rose bush while there (👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻), and then a short while later we went to Trader Joe’s (*happy sigh* man, I love TJ’s) and I found myself a flippin’ RED orchid!! I have wanted a red orchid for YEARS, and there it was—just one, as if it was waiting for me. Bonus: it was only ten bucks.
Double bonus: my migraine stayed away the whole day and my two year old grand baby showered her Nana in hugs and kisses all afternoon. 🥰

@AwesomePlants Yes, it is! It was fairly sopping like the rest of them. 😞 But hopefully it’ll do well here after it dries out a bit and aclimates to its new home.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who’s never seen a red orchid until now! LOL When I really got into orchids a few years ago I wanted a red one and couldn’t find any; I even googled and nothing came up. I didn’t search high and low or put in a huge amount of effort, but still, I figured there’d at least be pictures of them somewhere. So when I saw this on the shelf huddled amongst a bunch of typical phaleonopsis at Trader Joe’s, just waiting for me, I knew I was meant to have it. 🥹❤️

Oh wow! What a haul. Poor little water logged babies. That orchid is gorgeous. I'm jelly you have a Trader Joe's close to you. My closest one is almost two hours away in a very busy Tampa. Where traffic is nuts and rackets up my anxiety. Especially now that I have really bad neuropathy in my hands and feet.
