Krimson princess hoya repotting adventure

Let's see how much my #krimsonprincesshoya throws a fit after a #repot. As they say, if your Hoya is happy DON'T TOUCH IT, but I did.

I got this as a cutting and chopped and propped it in a big pot without drainage ๐Ÿฅด. It started cranking out new leaves the last month or two so obviously I needed to leave it alone.

But I knew this winter I wanted to sun stress it, and the pot was not only wrong but too big to put in the window well. I've been having to rotate like crazy to get touches of pink.

So I did it. Here goes nothing!

I see you went for it ๐Ÿ˜‚ no fear, the plant parent prodigy strikes again haha. Hope it goes well for you!!!!
@hoyahead I mean let it be happy in the wrong conditions or put it in the best conditions you can, and deal with a tantrum ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฉ
I repotted mines to join the 2 last week.... I haven't looked at it since...I'm skurred... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ
๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป๐Ÿž๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ˜…
I would have done the same thing. Honestly, Iโ€™m knocking on wood, but I have never had a plant decline awfully after repotting. I always assumed they would be chill in their new pot and new soil with plenty of room to grow!โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜… Then I get on Greg and people are like โ€œrepot = big stressโ€โ€ฆ. ๐Ÿคช Ooops!โ€ฆ. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜… #themoreyouknow
@BeesZenGarden I definitely have had mixed results. Hoyas are just notorious for getting mad when you disturb their happy places ๐Ÿ™„
Mine is desperate for one too! I keep procrastinating!
@PlantMompy Yikes, itโ€™s good to know since I just started getting hoyas!!โ€ฆ ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿ˜‚ One is already giving me trouble and I hadnโ€™t even repotted her!โ€ฆ But I stand corrected, I did have a fail after repotting: my spider plants! Not the ones I would have expected trouble from!!โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜…
@PlantMompy Honestly, Iโ€™m more scared of leaving a plant in a pot without drainage and killing it by overwatering than anything else!โ€ฆ
@jaysjungle I have another that I gave a bath to the other day and the soil looked AWFUL, so of course it's also putting out it's first new leaves in far too long instead of it's constant flowering. Like. Why do they do this?
@BeesZenGarden isn't that always the way! I repotted some spiders earlier this year and they gave me a hard time, now that you're mentioning it ๐Ÿค”
@BeesZenGarden this spring I realized that cute pots without drainage could be cover pots and I don't have to actually PLANT things in them. ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜‚
@PlantMompy love how you arranged your photos to show off how you posted it. Thank you for that! You did an amazing job! Happy growing! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ
Thanks, @KikiGoldblatt! I figured it was easier than trying to post all of them and explain ๐Ÿ˜‚
@PlantMompy I repotted my hoya australis and she's livid.. now I'm afraid to re-pot any of my Hoyas ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿคฃ @BeesZenGarden I repotted my Spider and she peed for two weeks, oh these plant kids throwing fits just because we plant moms, want to improve their conditions. ๐Ÿฅต
@Sassylimey I repotted my huge pubicalyx earlier this year and it did fine so ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ
@jaysjungle Btw, that Hoya is pretty stunning!โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜
@Sassylimey ๐Ÿ˜‚ I know, right!!?โ€ฆ Mothers know best, damn it!โ€ฆ
@PlantMompy they definitely like to be "tight in their pot". Mine has roots coming out the bottom, and is still in the peat moss soil from HD (think this was a Vigoro brand)

Thanks @BeesZenGarden! She's a little rough, but that's how I like my Hoya! ๐Ÿ˜†
I moved my hoya (not repotted juat moved her) and she sulked for two months before making ONE new leaf and then sulking again. She got over it and is working on a flower now. They're pretty dramatic sometimes.
Also she's been in this pot for 10 years and I have fertilized her uh... twice. Ever.
@tattedscientist yup! My two oldest got repots this year but I couldn't tell you how long it had been before that!
