Soβ¦ this happened π
My Philodendron 'El choco Red' has been through it. It's young, but it battled (and won!) a fungal infection, though it lost a leaf, and just recently unfurled a new one.
It's on a moss pole, but no signs of attaching to it yet - I suppose it's still focusing on developing its root system (don't get me wrong, it's been with me for like 3 months, but it's my theory).
So YESTERDAY, I was watering it, aaaaand... I saw something growing... BEHIND THE POLE!!! lol and it's growing CONSISTENTLY, as in, it's doubled in size since yesterday!!!
(I should mention we just entered spring down here lol)
I don't know if it's going to go forward or if it's just going to stop - if it doesn't, I guess I'll have to repot and reposition. Never seen this happen before. It could be something else, too. But it made me laugh and cry at the same time

2ft to light, direct
5β pot with drainage
Last watered 2 months ago
@BabeVila the problem is that itβs behind the pole! Hahaha if it does in fact continue, Iβll have a bit of an issue
@Gustavo So there's nothing left growing in front of the pole?
@UltraKoreanfir no, there is! First pic. But if whatβs growing in the back is in fact a new growth, I might have to reposition
@Gustavo Or just let it do it's own thing. You could try cutting away sections of plastic from the back of the pole to give it some places to hook onto as it works its way around to the front?? Or replace with a 360 pole. I wonder if wrapping some hemp twine/rope back & forth along the back would also work π€
I'm just thinking of ways you might be able to let it establish in place versus moving a baby.
I've seen video shorts where people use a soldering gun to make holes in plastic...that could work as long as your moss is wet π
