IM A ALOCASIA DADDY!

So this is my story.
I went back to my happy place perch plants, originally to buy a anthurium clavernarium.

BUT IT WAS 44 DOLLARS FOR A SMALL ONE! And their plants are a STEAL.

For example, I could buy a FULL GROWN ficus for 45 dollars there. There’s the anthurium idea down the drain.

So I was looking around for the plant of my dreams, not a peperomia, not getting another philodendron, (at least for another month I can’t resist!) And then I hit alocasias. I promised myself β€œLuke, (that’s my name) NO ALOCASIAS”

so I was like fine. But then a saw it. A beautiful Alocasia silver dragon. For 16 dollars! What a deal! And then I remembered what I said about alocasias…. Ehh skrew that ur coming home with me!

So I wiped down the leaves, and checked for pests, (which there are none!) and placed it on my bookshelf. Btw it’s next to the window! So, how to care for my first alocasia? I really don’t know πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ any suggestions or advice that would be good to know for Sammy? PS, I know they go dormant in winter #Alocasia #AlocasiaSilverDragon #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #plantparent #PlantAddict

I’m not sure about alocasia care but excellent storytelling!
Are you in Pennsylvania? If so, I am too and I have many alocasia. I cannot keep them happy in soil πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I know others who are but they have such a delicate balance of enough moisture but not too much to rot the roots. If you leave it in soil I would add a lot of perlite so you can water but it leaves breathing room for the roots. I keep my alocasia in a mix of pon and perlite and in a self watering pot with a wick so it’s not too wet but doesn’t go dry either.
Yes! I am in PA! This is my favorite place! I will do this soon!
Where should I get my pon? Which brand works best for you?
So cute I miss my mine so much I thinking of getting a new one soon
