So Zephyrs, my monstera adansonii leaves are curling and have crispy tips. I’m afraid they will be drying out soon. What could be the reason or cause? And how can I save him asap?😭 #Monstera #adansonii #NewPlantMom #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants #PetsAndPlants

How frequently do you water? It may be too frequent or not frequent enough. How large is the pot? It may be too large for the size of the plant. Does the pot have drainage holes at the bottom? Important to help prevent root rot. Even without a humidifier you should not be seeing such drastic changes unless perhaps you recently repotted your monstera? Repotting can cause shock in which case this could make sense. Lastly make sure sure to check all those leaves and stems for pesky bugs. Pests like to hide under the leaves and can eat away at the life of the plant. Mighty Mint’s Neem oil is my recommendations I spray those leaves if you see pests. Monsteras enjoy sun but not extended direct exposure. Their natural habitat is rainforest and under the tree canopy and climbing up the trees. They looove to climb. The fenestrations are an adaptation that helps them capture those uneven sun rays that filter through the canopy. I found that learning about my plants’ natural habitats gave me a deeper understanding of their needs and what I could be doing more for them 😊. (And also a deep appreciation of nature in general and how I could never compete lol but do my best). Additional tip is I bottom water all my plants so they can drink only what they want and mix in perlite in all my soils to make sure the drainage is adequate. I hope this is helpful!
@PoisedAlbo I just ordered my humidifier. Hoping it won’t take long to arrive😭😭. Thanks a lotπŸ₯ΉπŸ’‹
@HeartyAgarito I just received it, I’m not sure how frequently they used to water it and the pot does have drainage. Okay okay cool, thank you very much. I do want to learn about the bottom watering method because I don’t want to overwater and underwater my babies. Please tell me how you do it 😭😭
@Leafymom And you’re on the right track and have plenty of help here while on your journey 😊. I second @PoisedAlbo’s advise as well. Something I do (because I’m curious) is I measure how much water I put in the bowl before I put my plant in there, and measure after it’s done drinking. Only because I like to know how much they’re drinking, that way I learn a little more about them (and also can tell if Greg was correct in its estimation lol). Overall the app does a great job of telling you how much water your plant needs and how frequently to water but it’s not perfect. For the times it’s not perfect I lean on my water meter to tell me how moist/wet my soil is. A water meter is pretty cheap to get on Amazon. Also here’s a link to the plant care guide for your new baby that can help as well! https://greg.app/plant-care/monstera-adansonii-laniata#water-needs
@PoisedAlbo Oh that makes sense with the terracotta since they do absorb water around them and ditto with the clear pots! Such a game changer!
@PoisedAlbo OooπŸ₯Ή, they love so beautifulπŸ₯Ί. I’ll surely start doing that and I think I’ll be needing more tips from you to get my baby looking like that🀭
@PoisedAlbo oh okay cool that’s pretty easy and safe from overwatering and under-watering.
@HeartyAgarito thank you guys so muchπŸ˜πŸ™πŸΎ. I highly appreciate your help because at some point I was panicking. I really don’t want to lose them especially my first week. I’ll update y’all on Zephyrs (monstera adansonii) thank you thank you thank youπŸ’‹
