Alocasia's thriving after thrips and care routine
Newest leaf on my Alocasia ππ (my husbands favorite plant) itβs also ready to pop out another leaf in a week or so!
This Alocasia also had thrips recently and showed no growth. Once I treated and got rid of them. It took about a week to bounce back and surprised me with all the growth it had been holding back. Every day Iβll check the underside of the leaves and make sure there are no new thrips. If I find one Iβll squish it. Every watering cycle itβs getting treated with mosquito bits.
Last photo is progress of the new shoot I posted about a week ago!

@BuoyantSandleek thatβs a pretty tall stand!! And youβve got so many on there! I love it!!
Yeah I have another stand coming tomorrow that has grow lights already in it after I eat my lunch here that's what I have to do is go and put the grow lights up even though I don't know how I'm going to do it cuz they're hanging grow lights so I'm going to have to angle on my guest towards the stand I don't know but I'll figure it out but yeah I'm excited for the new one it's six tears long so that is actually two stands stacked on top of each other because I had to make room for the new stand so I took the old stands and made one out of two but I know I absolutely love it I'm thinking I'm just going to have to buy a whole bunch of new plants to put on the new stand because I'm not sure I want to take any of them off of there cuz it looks so nice lol
@BuoyantSandleek oh! Okay lol yep! I bought a new stand too and I have an old one that I might put all my props on !! And I still have space for more too!! I say leave it because it looks good like that! And buy more plants! ππ I might go to Home Depot today and buy a few.
This gives me hope! Mine had spider mites and I ended up cutting off 2 big leaves and treating the remainder. It currently looks tragic. Maybe mine will recover too π€. Yours looks absolutely gorgeous. @BuoyantSandleek I love the way your plant stand looks! π ππΏ
@LuxuryMint of course!! Donβt lose hope. It will come back around! Itβs a lot of time and patience but worth it! I moved and traveled with it and I lost about 4 leaves then thrips happened right after and maybe two or three more leaves fell off. It has surely bounced back tenfold! And yours will too!
