New lifesaver cactus dilemma: no drainage

Hey y'all! I wanted to show off my new succulent! It's a Huernia Zebrina. Also known as a Lifesaver Plant and a Carrion flower (since it blooms a beautiful, yet smelly flower in the Summer).
It's a meaningful plant because mine and my husband's last name is Carrion haha. Also, my dad got me this plant, so it's even more special. I saw the plant shop near his job posted on their Instagram that they received a fresh shipment. I asked him if he wouldn't mind snagging me one since he's in the area, and he did! He even surprised me with the pot! It's too cute.
Unfortunately, however, it does NOT have a drainage hole. And my dad, unaware of these things of course, let the shop repot the plant directly into the pot.
I really don't want to repot him again since he was just repotted yesterday (I don't want to traumatize him), plus the pot is super adorable. Do you guys have any tips on watering this little fella without a drainage hole?
I really want him to thrive since he's so special, and I would love to see him bloom in the Summer! The pot feels like clay or terracotta. It doesn't feel or look coated or glazed.

Additionally, a little piece had fallen off the plant and my dad handed me the little piece. It had a healthy root attached, so I potted him in his own teeny tiny terracotta pot! My dad said that all of the Lifesaver Plants at that shop were falling apart, and that he managed to get the best one.

I'm so thankful for my dad and for this new little plant. And I'm so thankful for this community for allowing me to show off new plant babies all the time and for offering helpful and thoughtful advice ๐Ÿ’š

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ˜„

3โ€ pot without drainage

Your Dad did well. I love that pot. So adorable. Ideally, repotting to a pot with drainage would be the answer. You could allow it to dry out really well. Loosen around inside of pot tip over into your hand hopefully in one piece. Drill drainage holes in existing pot and put him right back in. With a very careful watering schedule for bear hug , I think you would be safe in waiting a while to do this. With cactus (which I'm no expert with), I always think less is more when it comes to watering. You could also use a moisture meter. At any rate, I am sure you will be fine. Happy Growing!
Youโ€™ll love that plant. I have a couple that are very similar. I love the exotic stinky flowers. But it stays outside. Especially when blooming. Except for when itโ€™s time to bring the blooms in for pictures.
Thatโ€™s pics of my Demigorgon flower
I recommend repotting into a pot with a drainage hole asap. They can rot easily. Donโ€™t water too often or you can easily get black spots and it will start having issues. Itโ€™s a MUST to have drain holes. And try to use a soil like rabbit hill farms soilless cactus mix. It probably only needs water every two weeks at the most
@Stall54Jo @SirLiquorice Thank you both so much for your input! The soil feels pretty dry right now, so I think it'll be okay in this pot for now while I decide if I want to drill a hole into the bear pot or if I want to repot this guy into something else entirely. I found this about how to drill drainage holes into terracotta and clay https://www.sublimesucculents.com/how-to-drill-drainage-holes/
They say to soak the pot for at least an hour before you drill it. Will the plant be okay pulled out of that pot and temporarily housed in another pot for that hour and then put back into the bear pot? ๐Ÿ˜… I would probably do it on watering day, that way the soil stays in tact. Also it looks like my little guy gets watered every 22 days, according to my app. So that's a plus lol
@SirLiquorice Your Demigorgon flower is gorgeous! ๐Ÿ˜ป And your camera picks up every little detail ๐Ÿคฉ #CactusGoals
I just have to add, it's odd to me how a plant store would pot succulents, or any plant, directly into a pot without drainage. You would think of all places, a place that specializes in plants would know better lol
@KillerTofu my thoughts too! ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ unless theyโ€™re trying to get rid of those pots fast! Oops
Love the pot!!! Iโ€™ve been wanting to get cute pots like that but have been being careful with spending money on plantsโ€ฆ
It will start to turn a reddish brown if it's getting too much light. I have one of these and they are neat plants. When it flowers people always ask me the name of the plant. The flowers almost look like they are fake ๐Ÿ˜‚
Super cute bear pot!
Mine is finally recovering after shipping, and new growth, I do have to water more often than suggested tho
