Iโm forever deciding where to put my cane #Begonia s and this is my latest vignette (ooo la la!)
Bottom is #begoniamaculata, then Rosea Picta, and Lois Burke on the top ๐
In the process of hanging them I discovered a sweet little bloom in the Lois Burke! ๐
Iโve also done some repotting, some more rearranging, and moved a couple cuttings to perlite (๐ค @DreamMachine @princesspitstop ๐ค๐ป), so I guess now I should actually just WATER all the rest ๐ฆ ๐

I'm not at all familiar with Begonias.
I've always been curious about how to water hanging plants. Do you take them out of their hangers to water or is there a way that you water them in place?
If so, does the excess water drain into their saucers?

@CutePolypremum Hi Joanie! For my hanging plants, I just water them were they are and let the water go into the cache pot or the drip tray. After a few hours I walk around and tip the extra water into a plastic bin I use. Sometimes I use a (dedicated) turkey baster to suck out extra water too (when tipping them isnt enough) ๐ Iโm sure others have some brilliant strategies they useโฆI hope they chime in!
@MariansOasis Thank you Marian! I always thought they were too delicate for me, but have been pleasantly surprised by how hardy they are! ๐ช๐ป
@debbiedo @CutePolypremum I do the same thing! Except for some like my peacock fern I just take the whole hanger down and water it over the sink. Probably wonโt last forever, my macrame I mean, but thatโs a future me problem ๐คญ
Iโve gotten pretty good at watering appropriate amounts , and usually only a small amount goes into the saucers or cache pots, but the plant soaks it back up over the next couple hours.
Sometimes though, and this is the double whammy, I water too much and then forget the check the saucer ๐๐ซ RIP Rosie calathea (maybe, weโll see if she makes a comeback)

@DreamMachine Itโs so good to know Iโm not alone! ๐ Sometimes I do forget to check for extra water and sometimes I (incorrectly) convince myself that I donโt need to ๐ฌ
