Got an air plant for free, any tips?

GUYS I GOT AN AIRPLANT FOR FREEEEEEEEEE
I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW BUT ANY CARE TIPS ARE APPRECIATED I HAVE NEVER HAD AN AIR PLANT BEFORE #happyplants #airplant #newgrowth #plantsmakepeoplehappy #help
2ft to light, direct
2” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
Good air flow, and I water mine every week or so, using the dunk method, (submerging in water for an hour or two), & make sure they aren’t on any material that can hold water, especially while wet. Good lighting like a window or something will work, they attach to things like trees in nature, that’s why airflow is important ! Congrats on your airplant (:
Also some nurseries carry β€œair plant” food I’ve never tried it before but if that’s something your interested in you could try.
@TidyTigerpear How do I know when they need water?
The ends will start to bend slightly, or if you wait too long, the tips will dry and turn brown. Usually once per week is plenty unless you just use a mister/spray bottle. If you use that method, spray a couple of times per week. MOST IMPORTANTLY, dry them upside down for a few hours after submersion (points down) because you don't want water sitting in the core, which can & will cause rot.

How awesome is it that you got it for free!!
@UltraKoreanfir
Okay, thank you! Will they need to be fertilized?
They don't really need it, but if you want to you can use some balanced fertilizer like miracle grow diluted to about 1/4 strength every few weeks.
@LittleSongbird they will kinda curl their leaves and feel papery dry.
