@ThatOneGay THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I cannot wait to grow this guy to giant levels ๐คฉโจ๐ฑ eeeekk!!!
@Prentyce YEAH!!! Oh thatโll be so awesome!
@ThatOneGay have you ever seen a mature one?!?! Itโs the reason I got HIM BAHAHAHA๐คญ๐โโ๏ธ๐คฉโจ๐ฑ
@ThatOneGay YESSSSSS BHAHAAHHA they can get even bigger too of course! I want to challenge myself for FULL Growth ๐๐คฉโจ๐ฑ (bahahah we will see for reals) ๐๐ฅน๐ณ๐ฑ
@ThatOneGay EEEK I WILL FOR SURE POST UPDATES!! Iโm doing my research on potting mixes & double checking plant care info (humidity, temp) and constantly checking my house environment bahahaha. I need to repot soon since itโs roots are ready!!๐คฉโจ๐ฅน๐ฑ eeek Iโm so excited!!
@WelsomeRhodotus YES but I wasnโt sure if it would thrive in the water, would you think wicks style??? Orrrr๐ณ๐ฅน
@Prentyce 100% wick style!!!! I washed the soil off mine and plonked it into a wick style setup in LECA without a water transition first and it grew roots into the reservoir below within a few weeks!! It had a ripped leaf from being shipped and I thought that would have fallen off for sure but it still looks gorgeous and has no issues at all!
@WelsomeRhodotus WOWOWOWOWIEEE!! Eek Iโm so excited! Done and done ๐๐ฅน I will have to add some sulfur right?? They like acidity? Or alkaline i forget
@Prentyce you mean for the nutrient solution? Oh boy you and I need to discuss nutrient solutions!!!! ๐๐๐๐
@Prentyce sorry got excited there ๐๐๐ ok tell me about your nutrient solution and I can give you my suggestions!!
@Prentyce also a quick side note, if you ever get hoyas, I found they also donโt need the water transition into LECA. They also seem to be quite happy in the non-wick LECA setup :)
@WelsomeRhodotus I only have a few water soluble things, so pls tell me what else is needed!! I have the propagation drops, silica and sulfur. Thatโs is itโบ๏ธ
@UltraKoreanfir THANK YOU SO MUCH EEEK!!๐คฉ๐ฑ๐ฅนโจ
@PoisedAlbo thank you SO MUCH! I will be doing moss rings ๐คฉโจ๐ฑ mandatory!! Can I chop down all the dead ?? I see some decay at the base and Iโm scared for root rot ๐คฉ๐คญ
@SvelteKingfern YES!! Thank you SO MUCH! I cannot wait!! Eeek :)
@Prentyce ok so I prep my nutrient solution for already rooted plants like your baby here as follows:
1. ideally starting off with rain water (I used to buy distilled but it gets expensive so I stopped), I fill up a 5 litre plastic bottle (actually I do a few at a time cos I have so many plants and some have massive reservoirs!). If no rainwater is available I use tap water and add a solution usually used for aquariums to remove the chlorine and chloramine from the water - this is due to my local tap water (itโs called Stress Coat +). Give the bottle a really good shake.
2. I then add my nutrient/hydroponic fertiliser according to the quantity for hydroponics on the bottle - thatโs normally 5ml per litre of water. I use the Growth Technology Foliage Focus one as itโs made in Australia and thatโs where Iโm at :) I think you can also buy that in the northern hemisphere via Amazon but there are plenty of other hydro fertilisers available :) Then shake shake shake again to distribute.
Every second or third batch I add in silica - itโs also from the Growth Technology brand. This one requires the silica to be added first, shaken in well and left to stand for at least 15 mins before adding the nutrients. Because Iโm lazy, this one isnโt added in every watering ๐ ๐
3. I then add in another additive from Growth Technology called Root Zone. Itโs an added extra and not integral, a bit like the Superthrive one. Shake shake shake!
4. Then the chemistry starts! I use an inexpensive digital ph meter I bought on eBay to measure the ph of my nutrient solution. My tap water is super alkaline and the alkalinity increases even more with silica added. I bought some liquid ph up and ph down solutions and use a 1ml syringe to add in ph down to the nutrient solution bottle until the ph is in the range of 5.5 to 6.5, shaking and measuring in between. I find it doesnโt need much when Iโm using rain water but tap water requires quite a bit of faffing around. So no Sulfur for me as I adjust using ph down :)
5. Anyway after that, I change the nutrient solution in all the pots according to their various schedules :)
My biggest takeaway is making sure you measure the ph because then you can make adjustments with accuracy. I also recommend buying some different size syringes for all the different additives. This way you can sort of just have one for each different type of additive youโre working with. I mostly use 20ml, 10ml, and 1ml syringes. It takes all the guesswork out! Hopefully that isnโt too overwhelming! ๐ ๐

@WelsomeRhodotus ooooh okay!! That makes perfect sense!! I do need to order some stuff asap then BAHAHAH whoopsies!!! I might repot the anth in soil in the meantime (it takes 2 weeks to get anything from Amazon ๐ฅน๐ญ I live in the boonies lol) eeek! But I need it for my PP, my new philos in the mail!!! And my Thai con๐คฉ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฅน Iโm so excited! Thank you so much! Now my plants will actually thrive โบ๏ธ๐คญ๐ฑโจ๐ฅน๐๐ฅณ
@WelsomeRhodotus are youuu growing anything on a pole in Leca??๐คญ๐ฅณ could we do plastic sphagnum moss poles??
@Prentyce let me know if you have any questions for your soon to be received babies! We can brainstorm together if you have any questions when youโre doing it ๐ค๐ค๐ค
@Prentyce you mean the plastic ones you fill with sphagnum? I literally just ordered some of those last night! I decided to wait until after I moved house to set these up - we can do them together! ๐๐๐
@WelsomeRhodotus EEEEK!!! YESS! Can you imagine the crazy growth with these beauties?!๐ณ๐คญ
