Pebbles added to Citrine's terrarium!

Update on the Pebbles!!!
I ended up adding pebbles to Citrine’s terrarium! He looks great and hopefully this won’t end badly. #SucculentSquad #CactusClique
5ft to light, direct
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
As long as the pot has drainage, you shouldn’t have issues hopefully! Just a recommendation, I’d move the pebbles near the cacti as to not disturb its growth 😁
@kscape do the rocks at the bottom work? I’m not able to drill a hole in the bottom so will that do?
@ChaosPlains Rocks at the bottom will only encourage pooling of water and will hold moisture, resulting it rotting your cactus. I would suggest repotting in something porous and you can keep the pebbles for drainage, but I personally use Gritty soil mix with perlite and my cactus loves it 🌵💕

I have mine in a ceramic pot, and although it’s not porous, it does have a drainage hole and have the mix I make for excellent drainage ✨

Cacti are drought-tolerant! So the less water and moisture they sit in, the better!
@kscape ok thanks!
@kscape I’m sorry if all the pinging is annoying I just need help. We don’t have what we need to drill holes and I don’t have and pots with drainage holes. I can’t use rocks so what do I do?
@ChaosPlains You can use rocks, but use less of them and keep track of your watering!

In these situations, I’d much prefer the plant parent underwater, than to overwater. Cacti already only need water every 2-3 weeks. With your set up, do not be surprised if the soil does not dry fast right away, or you go for more days without watering.

Glass is not porous, so the only way water is able to get out is having your cactus drink the water, and/or let it evaporate. Give it little sips of water when your cactus starts to wrinkle; DO NOT water fully, or else your cactus can rot!

I would water until I think the top FIRST inch of soil has been wet, and let that little bit seep into the soil. I will then go ahead and give it another sip, “same amount” as the first time and then I’ll leave it be. This recommendation is for your setup only, though. You may have to experiment and try, but for you, the less water the better! 😊

By the way, I don’t mind the pings! I love helping Greggers with their babies. It makes me happy 😁
@kscape if the soil was potted while dry…should I water it now..?I haven’t watered him since I got him.
@ChaosPlains Depends. do not water your cactus until it starts to wrinkle. If your cactus looks/feels firm *don’t recommend touching, but maybe poke with a gentle brush*, it’s full of water and does not need any more.

If its wrinkled or somewhat deflated-looking, then give it a little bit of water.
@kscape tysm!
