DIY humidity hut for my pitcher plant π
#PlantAddict #PropagationStation #DIYPlanter #CarnivorousPlants #sundews #Nepenthes #ShareYourProcess #evilgenius well I been at it again!! Nothing too crazy really but a couple carnivores permanently potted today π Q graduated (a few days late) from the womb bag to a humidity hut!! Yup, coffee jar with a hole in the lid π should maintain between 85 and 90% humidity unless I let the media dry out and the hole means I can put water in without removing the lid. Then we have some slightly scorched sundews π
poor guys are not doing great in the summer here, if it isnβt too much direct sun itβs too hot for them π© theyβre being moved into the plant room too π but for now I chose 3 different vibrant red rosette type sundews so that as they grow in and spread it will eventually look kinda like exposed brains π€ͺ I mean, they need to actually be healthy for that too so hereβs hoping!! π
2ft to light, indirect
2β pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
@Ada3 thank you!! I love my planty babies π₯°π π ohhhhh just for an added facet, Q is my very first baby Nepenthes from my own plantsβ¦.. π pretty much why he ended up with Q! Heβs the first of the next gen π
@RJG thanks!! Theyβre pretty common in variety stores here π Iβm planning to collect all the colours π Peter the Rabbit Foot fern got a new one today too!! Plus a little angry witch I found π€£π Peter went up a pot size so he needed a bigger skull and the rattle snake is in his old one π
@Ada3 haha theyβre cute as!! I love them π mine have a lil plastic plug too so they can either be draining or not, I tend to use them planter style but the sundews donβt have one so the water sits out on the plate and the plastic decorations substitute for salty rocks they canβt have π Ta da!! Carnivore friendly humidity tray ππ I think your guys need eyeballs π€ googly eyes???? Oh pretty please tell me you have a random stash of googly eyes you can stick on them π
@PoisonIvys I been looking for some π and π. πTheyβre probably in a craft store like Michaels. My skull pots have no drainage, so I have a pot-within a pot, to keep them from killing my succulent plants when watered. β οΈ
@Ada3 yeah I use them that way too regardless of drainage tbh because itβs a pain to pot and repot mine π
itβs easier to use them as a pot within a pot for when everyone upgrades π
