Reviving my baltic blue pothos with a new method

I’ve had this little one for almost a month now. It did fall over and spill all over the floor of my car the day I received it. I repotted it when I got home that day and it’s never really perked up. About a 2 weeks ago I checked the roots and saw there was some root rot starting so I trimmed that off. Watering more or less often, different amounts, none of it seems to make a difference. So I’m going to give this a try, water in glass bottles directly in my west windowsill. I do see some seem to have lost their roots while others have some new root growth. Wish me luck! Or any other advice is greatly appreciated!

It does seem like you are fighting root rot. I have a pothos in similar condition. You can add a little hydrogen peroxide to the water. It will oxygenate and kill bacteria.
Do you have a golden pothos? If you do, put a cutting in each bottle. They kick off a rooting hormone that can speed up/ strengthen the rooting process. Check out #PothosWater and #pothoswaterisliquidgold for success stories and #ScienceWithGreg !
Is this a Baltic blue? They can be tricky for sure. I struggle with these guys, it’s like they don’t want to live half the time πŸ˜‚ I think you’re on the right track now πŸ’š
Hey! You have good instincts. You can also dip them in a roofing powder and trim off any of the stem down below the node as it’ll just rot. Don’t let the water get green, and I also add a bit of #HappyHappyHouseplantFood in all my water props. πŸŒ±β˜€οΈβ€οΈ
Good luck with the prop!πŸ‘ I’m going through it right now with a micans. Several cuttings refused to root in water after many weeks so I got rooting hormone. They’re in soil now, getting the daily misting and hoping for a better outcome. Keep us updated.
@KDkat3 that’s awesome, I didn’t know that. Is there a ratio I should stick to?
@LauraLynne I do have a golden pothos, but all of her ends had been trimmed when I got her and she’s sprouting new growth at all of those ends. I dont want to take that work away from her.
While my other golden pothos is a baby without any visible nodes.

But… I mean… there’s a store right around the corner…… they’ll have some pothos…. Right? Lol
@Propa I picked this plant up from a local person and she had said it was a Cebu Blue Pothos. It looked good with good roots when I got it. I’m thinking that all the changes at once, plus spilling out of the original pot caused too much shock. I’m still learning how to be a plant momma, so I probably caused this. But this is a good learning experience for when I need it later!
@RealSimpleMama thank you. I will look that up and get some. I have a powder rooting hormone, but I don’t think it works in water.
@MariansOasis thanks for your support. And good luck with your micans.
@VerdantFlora πŸ€” hmm I’m wondering if she had it mislabeled, this screams Baltic blue to me with the outer fenestrations. (Cebu won’t develop those fenestrations until they mature and get large leaves), & they tend to have a more silvery blue hue. I’ve got a few Cebu blues, one mature with holes and no outer fenestrations. First pic comparison, 2nd is a Baltic, 3rd is my Cebu. If that’s the case they are really finicky and can take transitions hard. I think it’ll pull through tho 😊
@Propa well these leaves aren’t silvery blue, they’re very much green. And it does look more like your middle photo. I’m sure you’re right and if I can get it to perk up and be happy again then I’ll post and ask what people think, just to make sure. What type it is only matters to me so I can look up proper care as they have little nuisances here and there. Thank you!
@VerdantFlora oh for sure! They’re so similar, the only way I’ve found these 2 differ is that the Baltic like to be extra fussy πŸ˜‚ I really think you’re doing all the right steps and you’ll have it growing long enough to pot up in no timeπŸ’š
@VerdantFlora I just add a drop or 2 depending on how much water. You will see the bubbles start forming quickly.
