Look at my cute cactus. (Super Kabuto) First time I have ever had a full flower on any of my cactuses. I’m pretty darn excited! The only thing I’m questioning is why does it close in the sun and then open back up later?? does anyone know? #TheThread #TheWateringHole #PlantsMakePeopleHappy
So pretty! They close up so they don't dry out as fast. Usually their target demographic as far as pollinators go will come around early morning, late evening, or at night, so they only stay open when absolutely necessary.
At the desert botanical gardens in phoenix, they stay open at night so people can see the blooms on the cacti that only open at night!
@MamaLinne @stephonicle WOW, thanks I had no idea! 🤷‍♀️ Makes sense. Happy Thursday ladies 😊
Congratulations 🎉 on that cactus bloom!
@MamaLinne @Luckeecharm1 I was watching a David Attenborough desert documentary and there’s one cacti that has a landing pad of soft tissue for their bat pollinators 😱😱🥹
@DreamMachine Hi Nadia, is this the plant you were talking about when you were walking through the forest and saw all that lovely greenery? When it blooms it has red flowers, but it does look like the Plant That that you said you were trained not to ever pick.? I have this plant in one other plant that the birds have brought to my yard. I don’t know how they do it because I did not plant this plant. And it’s obviously a perennial because it comes back every year. I tried to find your post where you put the picture but I couldn’t so I put it here.
@Luckeecharm1 hmm, I can’t really tell but I don’t believe that’s the same one. The one I mentioned was a trillium, here’s the pic for you
@DreamMachine When it blooms I’ll post a picture.
Nice sand dollar cactus! I almost bought one of those the other day.
