@JenniB81 , @LaSiguanaba , I used to have a purple one, I really love those! I need to get another!
@JesssJungle so wait...is that like an Irish Shamrock âïļ? I didn't even know they flowered like that but I think I want one....top of the morn to ya âïļðĻðŪ
@Seymour , I'm not certain if they are the same thing, but they could be related! I know here in Missouri we have a different kind of oxalis that's smaller and has yellow flowers and grows little "pickles."
@JesssJungle mmmm, well I must investigate further thanks to you and I didn't know there were purple varieties until now, so very good ð thanks for letting me know ððâïļð
Maybe Rose Red know a little something more? @LaSiguanaba

@Seymour @JesssJungle here he is, my purple oxalis ð I know that they are very beautiful plants, oh and they close their leaves at night and open them with the sun. ð
@LaSiguanaba , so pretty and I love the pot.
@JesssJungle Thanks! I actually have another planter like it with a Pony Palm in it. ð

@Seymour they're actually not from Ireland originally but are linked back because of their shape (which is why it's a called a false shamrock... They only have 3 leaf points to a stem not 4 so not really the same, and the leaves are more angular). But they're GORGEOUS aren't they?
The stems are so delicate (both leaf and bloom stems!) and they're photophylic (the process is called nystinasty... Which is just the BEST word I've learned recently! Hahaha ðĪĢ) so, like prayer plants, the leaves open and close with the sun ðĨ° they're also great heliotropes so need turning regularly (like twice a DAY! lol they're that fast) and they'll grow HUGE with proper care ð
Mine is only a baby... It's about 6.30am here and you can just see the closest leaves and the blooms aren't quite "awake" yet! Lol). She is literally growing like a weed so I've had to snip her falling blooms recently. She was loving the grow light for a while, but I moved her position to squeeze my Adansonii and my baby Birkin in... and ðŦĢ she got a little sunburnt! *Hangs head in shame* lol ð but she's spitting out a couple of leaves a WEEK at the moment!
And there are actually LOADS of varieties I found out Xx

@JenniB81 Thanks so much for your reply and clarification, Jenni, I did wonder with the flowers and leaves so I am glad you have now cleared that up for me. Trust a Scot to know the answer to a false Irish plant ð ðĪĢ
And the mechanicism is fascinating, the name reminds me of Heliamphora, a sun pitcher plant. And that word nystinasty, sounds nasty LOL ð but I love learning new words so thanks again
I appreciate your time in replying and setting me straight as well as seeing you plant which really does have large leaves so it is obvious happy. Amazing. Will see you again on Greg, thanks ð ð
