Hello everyone, I hope all is well and your plants are growing well. Here’s a photo of an olive tree that I am propagating . I pruned the lower branches off the large trees that I have growing. I’m a new grower in any way you look at it, that being said, I’m also ADHD. I read the posts and also try to look up any info when working with different types of plants, sadly forgetting just what I had read. I bought an Olive tree myself and still have her (Olivia) in the same pot I bought her in, she does have really small olives on her after being home with me for about a month or two. What is propagating and do I need to be doing this? I am positive that she needs to be in ground, and I’m looking for a good place to put her where my 6 pups will not bother her, and wondering if maybe wait til next Spring to put her in the ground. I do have a larger pot to keep her in as well . I loves her so much already and just don’t want to lose her even if that means finding the right person to rehome her to. I live in Alabama and red dirt everywhere around me except the places we have worked on for the garden I have currently. Any help is greatly appreciated and helpful. Hope everyone is doing wonderfully well and I look forward to learning from you all
@HipGuayule91 , hi Jennifer. Propagation is when you grow one plant from a parent plant. In this case, I have been pruning the lower branches off all my olive trees. Usually, I just compost them. This time I took one of the branches, stripped off the bottom 4 inches of bark, put it in rooting compound and then put it in soil with a small post to hold it up. When it sprouts roots, I will photograph and post it here.
