Hello again, everyone. A while back I saw a special on Monarch butterflies. I found it very interesting. It showed the migration path of these wonderful insects. What I found the most interesting is that one of their migration paths goes north of Florida cuts West to Alabama and keeps going. None of the other migration paths come near Florida. However, I’ve been seeing them from time to time, including some around my property. I am not sure what brings them down here. One of the reasons may be milkweed. According to the Internet, they’re the only plant that monarchs will lay their eggs on. About two months ago I started a row of milkweed. I just received more seeds in the mail and I’m going put them in planters today. My goal is to plant about a 15 foot row of milkweed for the Monarchs. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #OutdoorGrowing #TheWateringHole @HFplantoasis @HummingbirdMint @Idplantthat @ILoveMyPlants @Jadedbelle @Jujube @Luckeecharm1 @ModestCoconut13 @Ms.Persnickety @newplantgirlies @Preciousplants1 @princesspitstop @QuickKalopanax @sarah10orio @Shells_Garden @SillyPlantGirl @SizableSuncup20 @smushface @SolaceInSunshine @RefinedSandwort @Ponytailmom @Blhagmaier @BigPetunia80 @BEsucculent @UnbeatenSoybean @TopCoriander6 @stephongreg @ILoveMyPlants @SpyderLily @Ms.Persnickety @CutePolypremum #TheWateringHole @DreamMachine @ILoveMyPlants @MariansOasis @SillyPlantGirl
I love Butterflies. Living in Melbourne Fla with my parents- when my mom passed away, the next morning there were 3 HUGE butterflies flitting around inside their pool which was a covered pool/patio. Last spring I bought a butterfly kit. Got 5 caterpillars and watched them grow and build their cocoons and then released them into my flower garden. It was some work, but very rewarding. They love Milkweed, and they also love red, orange and yellow flowers.
@SillyPlantGirl , that’s wonderful. Here are a few photos. I took while out hiking in the Green swamp wilderness preserve.
This is the only photo I got! I was so excited to watch them I didn’t get more.
@Malagueña omg they’re gorgeous. Lucky you 🪴💕💕
@SillyPlantGirl , that’s a tiger swallowtail
@SillyPlantGirl , I used to do a lot of Florida landscape and wildlife photography. I have many butterfly photos matted framed. I showed them in many galleries. I don’t do much of that anymore.
You should!! I used to buy cards on Etsy from a man who did kind of the same- I loved his work. Paid $8 per card- if I have one left I’ll show you. I was going to tell you that you should sell your photos- they’re stunning!
