Came home from a long day at work to this... I sprayed her down with dead bug brew, neem oil and a (fungicide bc why not?) I just seen a post on here the other day about flat mites that affect hoyas? There is no way I can isolate her. My apartment is too small and I have way too many plants but bc shes so big shes not really in close proximity to many plants. #happyplants #hoyahangout #hoyaheads #hoyas #hoyapubicalyx #plantsmakepeoplehappy
Hey there. I'm sorry you are among our ranks of poor pest affected Greggers. Can you describe the issue a bit. I find it hard to make our from the pictures. (I was the one detailing my encounter with that recent bout of flat mites, but for now, I'm not sure what the issue is)
I.e. can you zoom in or focus on the damage or the pests (if they are even visible). Are those amber/brown spots the pests? Then it is 100%not flatmites. If the focus doesn't work, can you describe the damage/ the pests in more detail?
And if it is something that could theoretically spread.... you would be surprised how far some pests can spread/ what we should consider "close proximity to other plants". Some can travel on their own, many can hitchhike, for infections and very tiny ones a gist of wind can be enough. i get the space constraints. Believe me, I do. Have the same problem. I got myself some transparent boxes for that exact issue. Can use them as propboxes most of the time. And when I get new or sick plants, I can quarantine them in there. It's better than nothing. And hoyas especially do well in them and even love the higher humidity.
@MusicalRedmint that hole right there. You have to click on the picture to see the hole.
