Water grown clippings dying after transplant? So I ordered a few clippings off of Etsy about a month or two ago, and they rooted super well, and so when they were ready (3x3 rule of course) I potted them into soil. According to Greg, both types of plant (string of dolphins and string of pearls) like well draining soil, so I added in perlite and some coir. Within like two days they were both shrivelled. I couldnāt save the string of pearls, but the string of dolphins is currently in more water and rerooting really well. Is this because I made the soil too well draining for the roots which were used to being in pure water? Any tips on how to avoid this happening again without encouraging them to rot? #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PropagationStation #roots #StringOfPearls #StringOfDolphins #help #Propagation

What other plant parents say

The leaves are soft and lush. Beautiful foliage. But whew, this plant is hard to keep alive. Itās a succulent but the information on care is rare. It seemed to thrive more outdoors. But then the pests got to it. Sprayed for pests and the leaves just turned green and sad⦠Iāve repotted in succulent soil. And itās in triage. I donāt know if itāll survive the winter.

This plant when itās in all its glory is beautiful and soft and lush. But itās very hard to care for. We only just found out itās a succulent. NOT a regular foliage plant. So itās going into triage this winter. Hopefully a small pot, fresh succulent soil, a quick water and leaving it be will bring him backā¦
