Philodendron Dark Lord
About Philodendron Dark Lord
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Philodendron Dark Lord
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Philodendron Dark Lord after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Growth on Philodendron ‘Dark Lord’ So I've had a Philodendron erubescens 'Dark Lord' for a few months now. It's planted in my aroid mix and was received as a cutting. I recently (due to an accident) had to repot it but got to take a look at the roots and they are well-developed and good looking. The thing is, it doesn't put out new leaves or shoots. It's form is just as in the picture: one petiole and one big leaf. Watering, light, and fertilizer are on schedule. I'm just wondering if this is a slow grower or something. Anyone with opinions? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #Philodendron

#PlantMail of course, a new #Philodendron - meet my erubescens ‘Dark Lord’! This also came from a cutting, and was gifted from a friend. Look at the GIANT size of the leaf. It was EXTREMELY well rooted, too. To be fair, we are not sure whether it is really a Dark Lord, but the leaves developed the exact same way as those do (very red and then turning deep green). It can, however, be an unknown hybrid - it was taken from his property near where we live. I am in awe of the size of the leaf, and of course that due to that, when I was planting it, the fact that it is so heavy made the pot tip over and fall, causing chaos all over my room 😂😂😂 (My mom is NOT going to be happy with this) I'm very happy and can't wait to see how it develops! It's already a statement piece in my room - when it develops more leaves, it's going to be amazing! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #PlantCorner

My dark lord is struggling. He’s drooping and I just lost a leaf. I’ve treated him recently for spider mites, which seems to be an ongoing fight. Any tips to perk him up? #planthelp #Philodendron

Help me with Voldemort! So my #DarkLordPhilodendron #DarkLord is… unusual. We had to figure out his ideal lighting situation together and so his growth is uneven. He’s really leggy and stringy on the top, and full and luscious on the bottom. I am really tempted to chop him up BUT I don’t know how I’d #ChopAndProp the cuttings. I hate perlite and moss 🤣 is there any hope in hell for me to make 6-8 short one-node cuttings and lay them in water? Or on top of soil? Someone help me with something that’s not leca or pon. I’m getting itchy to whack him down but also want to make more little Voldies! Thanks! 🌱☀️❤️

So, Voldemort needs assistance. I have so many questions on my #Philodendron #PhilodendronDarkLord #DarkLord … he’s thriving but lost a top leaf when it was unfurling, I tried to help it out of its sheath and ripped it off. 🤦🏻♀️ Now he’s a bit thin on the top #midlifecrisis) and I’m not sure if I should prop it? Also I think he needs a bigger pot, but he has a baby. And I’m terrified of what would happen to them if I take them out of the pot. HELP ME I love him but I’m so hesitant to do anything!

NOOOOOO VOLDEMORT I feel so bad. I was taking photos of this #doubleleaf to show you guys on my Dark Lord #Philodendron and in my excitement to help it out of the sheath I broke it off. Aaaaaaaargh But it was still cool, right? 🌱☀️❤️🤦🏻♀️

Hello and welcome to #Freshleafsunday #freshleafeveryday 😇 for those of us who lose track of days - new job is incredible but I feel like I never get to say hi to my babies when it’s light outside! My sassy little #DarkLordPhilodendron is doing a DOUBLE on me?!? And I’m seeing the new growth since taking props from my #SwissCheeseVine. More to come soon! 🌱☀️❤️ #NewGrowth

So for this #freshleafsaturday I present to you my trio of #Philodendron #PhiloFlock who just continue to amaze me! I have two #PrinceofOrange whose new leaves are this gorgeous orange pink; but the star of the week is Voldie my #DarkLord #DarkLordPhilodendron - this guy is an absolute monster! (Btw this was a “starter plant” from the Etsy shop called The Green Escape.)

The tiniest philodendron dark lord ever?

Thoughts on no drainage for a lightly rooted #chonk? I’ve traditionally exclusively used pots with drainage for already-rooted props. But I found this little glass jar today and thought it was cool! And I love that I can perfectly see inside to monitor the moisture level/roots. Has anyone tried to grow a prop like this before? Did it end up working out okay? Or, should I transfer back to something that has drainage for this guy? #Philodendron #DarkLordPhilodendron #Propagation #PropagationStation #PhiloFlock
