Is it better to keep your basil plants inside or outside?...

#SweetBasil
Any tips on whether I should water from the top or bottom water my basil is appreciated as well! :)
I have never been able to keep Basil alive inside because I don’t get enough direct light, they definitely like some amount of direct light so if you have a place that is bright enough it might be okay
@MollyMoon that’s why I wanted to keep them outside! I do get pretty decent direct sunlight , when I leave them outside they droop and shrivel so quickly! I feel like they can’t handle the heat here.
They will definitely grow more vigorously if you put them outside. I think they shrivel up because they haven’t been acclimated. Try giving them 30 minutes of direct sun one day, 1 hour next day, 2 hours and so on. They’ll start to do much better!

If you decide to grow them indoors however, a SW facing window is best for them! They like to stay warm and get 6-12 hours of sunlight a day
@fabiana Thank you so much for this advice!!
Texas heat has definitely hurt a lot of my little plants lately but I have a basil outside on my patio that is shaded about half the day and it is thriving. if you can get it in a spot that has morning sun and peak of the day shade that is what has worked best for me. this thing is growing faster than i can keep up with πŸ˜‚
@madecroft (i’m in a coastal area tho so it is very humid as well as hot, that may make a difference, Idk tho)
@madecroft oh my that is beautiful!!! thank you for the advice!
i keep mine outside in a planter box and it’s thriving!
@madecroft ooooh makes sense why mine’s doing so well then, I have it on my north face bing balcony with lots of morning sun but also lots of afternoon shade
