How do I get a schefflera to root from the original plant...

#DwarfUmbrellaTree
@DynamicDewberry Umbrella Plant propagation is best done by growing stem cuttings in soil or water. They can also be propagated from seed or by air layering, but these have limitations. Successful propagation requires the right stem material and the correct temperature, soil moisture, humidity, and light.

To propagate Schefflera in water, simply take a fresh cutting from your parent plant and place it in a glass of water. Place this glass of water with your cutting in a shady area of your home. Over the next weeks, you will begin to see roots developing.
@DynamicDewberry Pruning leggy schefflera plants is an effective way to fix a leggy plant and these plants respond well to pruning. Simply trim any areas that appear leggy and new branches will grow from these areas. If you want to speed up how quickly your plant will recover, place the plant outdoors during the summer months.
You want it to root from the original plant? The one that is currently in a pot or the top that you cut off?
I had a taller, leggier plant that I chopped. I now have three points of new growth.

The top part, I put in water and I attempt to remember to change the water. There are roots starting to form on the cutting.

Be patient. I chopped this schefflera in February. It's now nearly mid-April.
@sarahsalith the top I cut off.
@DynamicDewberry plop it in some water. The one in my last picture was the top I chopped in February. The roots will protrude from the white, bulbous nodes. ๏ฟผ
