Is my peace lily dying?

#PeaceLily
I just received my new peace lily 2 days back. The soil was already wet, so I haven't watered it till now. It is really cold around my place, but the plant gets sunlight for 1 hr and then almost no sunlight. Although I have kept it inside my apartment, next to my balcony window and the apartment maintains a good 74 degrees temp.
The leaves seem to be dry and almost dead. Should i cut those leaves? How do I save my plant?
Welcome to Greg, Anshika! It looks like your plant has seen some STUFF.

Was your plant mailed to you? Going though the post office can wreak havoc on plants.

Was it looking that bad when you got it? It looks like a Costa Farms pot-within-a-pot. I would pull that inner plastic pot out and let your plant's soil dry out for a few days. It seems like it has been overwatered.

After a few days, when the soil is dried out, you might want to take a peek at the roots. Peace lilies are susceptible to root rot which will cause the leaves to look like that.

I'm afraid that's what you're dealing with. ):
Hi
Thank you for replying. I received it like this, and it is getting worse. I removed the plastic as soon as it arrived. So once the soil is all dried out, will the plant survive?
@StackedCentaury what I have done with one of my peace lilies is remove it completely from the soil and trim any unhealthy roots, then placed it in a glass vase with water. I would at least remove it from the soil and repot it in something less moist, wait a bit to water it and if you notice any mushy roots, take them off because they aren’t helping the plant out anymore. Hope this helps, I love my peace lilies ❀️
I cut off all the tried leaves and also moved it to an open utensil for now. You guys were right. The inner soil was super wet. Will let it dry out and then water it. Trying my best to save my lily !
Thank you, will keep posted.
If you cut any leaves make sure u only cut the top of the stem meaning the leaves because they grow their new leaves through the stems so if u chop off the stems you won't grow new leaves. It might look weird with a stalk for a while but it will grow back.
