New Growth on Forked Sundew

Question for my other Sundew owners! I got this guy about a month ago and he’s been sitting in a south-facing windowsill with his pot in distilled water.
A little over a week ago he started putting out new growth, but it is significantly longer than the rest of the plant. They are growing rapidly but haven’t shown any signs of β€œforking” like the older growth. At this point, they’re just kind of getting so long that they flop over.
Am I doing something wrong or is this normal when they have a sudden growth spurt? # #CarnivorousPlants #CarnivorousClub

@Seymour I think I’ve seen some sundews in your Oasis. Any wisdom for me?
@TwistedxSinner Yes I do, I have posted about forked sundews in an old post at #cpclubthursday. In my experience, they can tend to grow long thin leaves and it may be in part due to lighting conditions or during the dormancy months. So a variation in your conditions may result in more forking leaves eg more light. So long as it is growing, I wouldn’t be too concerned as the green leaves is what gives it the energy it needs through photosynthesis

Your sundew looks a little β€˜leggy’ to me and could probably benefit from more light. Maybe you could try supplementing a bit with a grow light? Good luck and happy growing!
